Chapter 3

Training and Teams

Maha's p.o.v

When we all piled into the training room to choose our weapons, a cheery girl caught my eye. When I say cheery, I meant her looks. Her expression was sad.

Somehow this girl struck me. I felt the urge to protect her. I watched as she picked up a bow and a quiver of arrows. She felt like a best friend I knew, but had never met...

I went over to the table of weapons and chose two short daggers and a light weight shield. I was good at close combat, ever since I trained in karate at the age of four. I still train to this day and I've achieved 4th dan past double black belt. Just one final dan and I would be allowed to take over if I wanted.

I wandered over to the girland smiled as I watched her train. Her aim was perfect but I could tell from the look in her eyes that if she actually had to release an arrow on a real person, she wouldn't be able too. To be honest, neither would I.

She turned and pointed her bow at me whilst I was lost in my thoughts.

"What do you want?" she demanded.

"Do you want to be a team?" the words escaped my mouth before I even planned them.

She lowered her bow and a smile spread across her young face, "Sure, the name's Adelaide. Twelve. Famous Actor, Singer and dancer."

"Impressive," I commented, "Maha. Youtuber, SomethingLikeAwesome. Famous karate expert too. Nineteen tomorrow."

"Wait," she excalimed, dropping her bow, "You are the real SomethingLikeAwesome? I'm like your biggest ever fan. You're videos are so funny, inspirational and totally awesome."

I smiled and gave her a quick hug. She was so much younger than me but it felt like we were the same in some way. Like we had some special connection.

"Wanna train then?" I asked as she picked her bow off the floor.

"Yeah!" she beamed.

Maybe this wasn't as bad as I though it would be...
