|~Chapter Ten~|

Dress shopping isn't fun. I have decided it. Getting them on and off is stressful, not to mention shop assistants who say to everyone of them you try on is pretty doesn't help. Angela found hers almost automatically, she walked in the store and picked the first one off the shelf and fell in love.

It was floor length and had long sleeves. It was black and Lacey with an open back and a single black waistband. It was beautiful, an Angela dress safe to say. When she tried it on, it fit her perfectly.

Meanwhile I had tried on about 20 dresses and not one was good enough. I blame Klaus, he had gotten me a mask. It was beautiful, I knew automatically it had come from the family vault. It a sky blue lace with delicate patterns made from lilac and blue crystals. The only problem is that isn't very easy to find a dress which matches that colour scheme let alone that pattern. I was surprised to hear he had left one out for Angela and Joey as well. Both black lace which slightly matched each other. I have a feeling Klaus is doing a little match making here.

I stood in the dressing room wearing a blue Lacey dress. It was wonderful. But as soon as I put on the mask, it doesn't match and looks awful. I left like screaming but I knew the shopkeeper wouldn't be particularly pleased about that. I really felt the need to give up. I should just wear no mask and claim I already have one or something, be real deep. I took off the dress, and after a long struggle, I stormed out of the changing room. Angela looked hopefully but her face fell when she saw I was wearing my ordinary clothes.

"It doesn't matter. Let's just get yours." I tried to smile hoping she wouldn't process my words.

"You sure? Is there any other dress shops in the French quarter or the city for that matter?" She asked me as we began to walk up to the till.

"Well yes but not in my price range. Plus I have always gone here, I don't want to go anywhere different." We waited whilst the woman carefully wrapped the dress in tissue paper and placed into a box. Angela paid and we headed out the shop.

"What are you going to do then?"

"I have no idea."

------------

We got back to see the preparations for the ball had already begun. The quite bare square was filled with musicians, balloons, bar, lights and a large dance floor taking up the center. The colours of blue and white surrounded the room, brightening up the old dull brickwork. It made me smile, but nervous at how I still haven't gotten a dress for it yet. I slowly made way up the stairs, my eyes still scanning the room.

Along the way I found Rebekah and Hayley looking over a pile of dresses. I clearly wasn't the only one is struggling to find a dress. Hayley turned around and smiled. She was getting quite big, her stomach was very swollen.

"Trouble finding a dress?" I asked.

"Yes! It's hard trying to find one that doesn't make me look like a elephant. Colour isn't even an issue at the moment for me." She moaned.

"And it's not easy." Rebekah said as she headed back over to wardrobe and brought out more dresses. One caught my eye, the colour of it matched my mask perfectly. I walk over to the pile and picked it up.

It was the dress I had been looking for. It was the one. It lilac/blue lace with crystal patterns swirling up and down the dress. It was fitting and had a slight mermaid cut to it.

"Please tell this dress is free." I begged Rebekah.

"Yes it is. I am guessing it matches that beautiful mask of yours."
