Since the beginning of American Werewolf history, Alphas have been male with only a few exceptions. I am one of those exceptions. I'm the first female Alpha the Timber pack has ever had. Or will have.

My mother and father tried for years to have a pup. My grandfather had stepped down and passed the title to my father. Alpha. Apart from running a pack, the job of an Alpha and Luna is to produce offspring. Preferably a male, an heir to the title Alpha. Instead of a bouncing baby boy, my parents were blessed with me. Their firstborn is a girl. No big deal. Try again.

It's only a big deal whenever you keep trying and trying and nothing happens. My Dad was 25 and my mom was 24 when they had me. 10 years later, they still only have me.

Until one fateful day, my mother runs down the stairs, exclaiming that she is pregnant. Three wonderful months latter, the normal gestation time for wolves, our family was blessed with another baby girl. Violet Rose. No boy.

When I was 10, they told me that my mom couldn't have any more babies. What they didn't tell me until I was older, was that my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 Omentum Cancer after Violet was born. Violet was fine but Mother passed away a few months later. And I never knew why until I was older.

Grandma took care of Violet and Dad did his duty as Alpha but he was never the same. He stayed in his office most of the time and hardly ate. He had just lost his mate and part of me knew that Violet and I were a sad reminder and small piece of mother. That was until the Solar Moon Gala.

My dad met Grace Silvers there. She was my Dad's second mate. He had a second chance and so did she. This almost never happens but I guess the moon goddess was on their side. Her pack had been in a rogue attack. Her mate and she had been a pack fighters and he had been killed. She had been badly injured and unable to have any more children. Leaving me as my Dad's heir to his Alpha throne.

Grace was lovely. And I grew really close to her. As did Violet. She made my dad happy and though she wasn't my mom, she treated me like a daughter.

When I was 13, my dad decided to send me to England. To alpha school. Around the world, female alphas are more normal than here in the United States. Pig headed men seem to think they are the only ones capable of doing anything. So needless to say, there aren't many good co-ed alpha schools in the states. England, however, had one of the best in the world. Aaron Lupus Alpha Academy. It was a boarding school of course.

So, at 14, I left the Carolinas and went to England. For 4 years. Every summer, I would come home and return. Each year, becoming more of an Alpha. I actually quite liked London. Apart from the rain. It was a nice escape from the southern heat. I even picked up the accent a bit. The people there, are amazing. The friends I made, the teachers. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Even though I missed my baby sister growing up. And a war. And my grandfather passing away.

So I missed a lot. But it's not like I had a choice. After I graduated, my dad promised me the pack. When I came home from Britain, we were at each other's throats.

Now he wants me to have a mate before I become Alpha. Essentially, making me a Luna. Not an Alpha. This is what I have trained for. Top of my class at the Academy. Best fighter in the pack. I am an Alpha and my Dad is not going to take that away from me.

"If you want to move up in the ranks, you have to do better than this!" My voice echoes across the training field. I am in charge of training our senior pack fighters. I may be a girl, but I can take any one of these "men" in 4 seconds flat. Perks of alpha blood. My senses are enhanced, I'm stronger, faster, and smarter than the average wolf. I like to use it to my advantage. I walk to a pair of sparring wolves.
