We entered the party together. Guest from other packs and Broken Hill littered the room. I held onto Erik's arm as he led me into the room and instantly, the chatter fell silent. Heat surfaced my cheeks but I instantly pushed it down. People were staring, after all.

"Well, that's one way to get everyone to stop talking," Sarah called out from the back of the room, encircled by her friends. Gran was among them. I smiled allowing my face to flush naturally and the guest chuckled a bit as well.

"I suppose," Erik called out to her, laughing as he did so. "I'd like to thank everyone for being here tonight, to commemorate my mother and father's 25th anniversary! Though my father cannot be here with us tonight, I feel it is necessary to celebrate this event and his life." I light applause circled the room. "Now, mother, I'm going to steal your spotlight for a moment." He looked to her for her to nod.

"Oh goody! I was hoping you would do this!" She jumped up from her seat, eager for what she knew was about to come. I could tell she may have had a few drinks and wasn't holding her alcohol very well.

"Anyway," Erik gathered his composure once more. "Many of you are probably wondering why, or have already guessed the reason for Alpha Aarons or Kass Aarons, as some of you may know her, is here." He looked over at me. "I would like to introduce my mate, Kassidy Amber Aarons." A louder applause erupted across the room along with shouts of praise and encouragement as Erik pulled me closer to him, placing a light kiss on my head. "Now, the real fun can begin!" The conversations resumed and a few moved to congratulate us.

"Mr. Alpha Erik!" Everyone stopped again as my sister stepped from behind my dad and slowly approached us. The room was silent. Everyone adored Violet, and her tone told everyone that she meant business. "If Kass is your Luna, does that mean she can't be Alpha of Timber? That she has to leave me again?" Her ten year old voice carried across the room and mixed with low murmurs of people considering her question. Her tone, her hurt, physically made my insides ache.

"Violet, maybe this isn't this best time to discuss this," I urged her, using my eyes to silently tell her not push the subject anymore.

"But Ka-"

"Violet, that's enough!" My father stepped toward her. His tone was soft, but full of authority and the rest of the party was dead silent.

"Or!" Sarah began her way to the front of the party. Gran trailed behind her, knowingly. The alcohol was definitely getting to both of them and they were grinning like idiots. "We could merge the packs!" She looked over at Gran who was smiling in agreement. I turned to my father, then Erik and back to my father, not knowing what to say.

"Mother, Grand Luna," Erik stepped forward, addressing the two older she wolves.

"Maybe this is a matter best discussed at another time," I cut in, hoping to convince my grandmother to stop her babbling.

"It's not a bad idea." My blood ran cold. The voice that rang through the room had haunted my dreams these past few nights. How had he gotten here? "Really, you two are a beautiful couple. It would be a shame to break the two of you apart." He stepped into the middle of the room.

"You dirty little mutt," I spat in his direction and Erik pulled me closer to his chest. I saw my father grab for Violet and Grace, pulling them to him the way Erik had done to me.

"You have something of mine, Kassidy," he tested the waters with his tone.

"Your friend shouldn't have been on our soil." I retorted. I said 'our' like I meant mine and Erik's. Our pack. I almost smiled at the idea before I remembered Kurt was crashing the party. Our party.
