I opened my eyes to a dark window. Last nights events were still running through my head but that was no excuse for me to lay in bed until the sun had risen. I had to beat it. It was 6:00 and the first rays of daylight were hardly piercing the sky when I left my house.

I ran through the pack woods to the territorial boundary. I looked around, checking for anything out of the ordinary. And I ran. Every morning, I woke up and ran the pack border, an almost twenty mile run. In human form of course. Wolf form would be too easy. This is also my way of making sure all the patrols were on duty.

Typically, I ran one mile to every four and a half minutes. Every mile or so, I would pass a checkpoint where two wolves would be on patrol. After I pass, they normally switch with the next rotation. Running also gave me time to think. After about ten miles my mind wondered to last night's party.

After Gran had given me her little mates speech, the real festivities began. The feast. The fireworks. The real party part. I was utterly distracted the entire time. Erik and I continuously made eye contact. My heart ached with each passing glance. I honestly had no idea what was going on. He was just a guy.

The one fun part involved Josh, Olly, Violet Rose, and Evangeline. (My only close female friend. Mate to my future third.) The four of them managed to drag me onto the makeshift dance floor that was the patio. The full moon was teasing my wolf and she was being a bit playful. For a while, I let the beat control me and forced my mind to stay focused on my friends around me. When a slow song came on, Josh and Olly playfully argued for my hand. I danced with both of them simultaneously, which received some lighthearted chuckles from the tipsy guest. Even dad found our little stunt amusing. Erik danced with Tara, a girl from my pack. It hurt a bit but I brushed it off and resumed normal dancing with my little crew. Violet was sent to bed before it was too late and before things got too out of hand.

Us alphas know how to have fun. Eventually people had taken off their shoes and PDA was ever present. The drinks were getting to everyone. The music blared, the patio was filled with sweaty bodies. These 'adults' were getting down. This party was reaching the scale of some of the parties I had thrown in the past. It didn't top it though! Eventually, guest began to leave. I had retired to the fourth floor where my bed and I had a nice reunion, which was rudely interrupted by my alarm clock and my routine run.

I had already run the pack perimeter and was back at my house. Judging by the sky, It was around 7:30ish. Walking back through the back yard, I noticed that the mess from last night had already been cleaned up. Way to go, Dad!

I grabbed the water bottle that I left on the steps and went through the back door that lead to the kitchen. My heart quickened and my skin prickled. I entered the kitchen and my stomach did a full on back flip. Standing at the counter, making himself a sandwhich was Erik Cole.

"What the bloody hell are you doing here!" I implored, raising my voice a bit. He turned around with a smug look on his face. "DAD!" On cue, my dad turned the corner into the kitchen.

"Chill out sweet heart," dad breathed, raising his hands in surrender. "I figured Erik and I could get to know each other. Like me and his father did. He will be staying here this week," My wolf liked the sound of that. I did not.

"And you didn't think it was something I needed to know?" I am beyond pissed. For a few reasons my dad doesn't quite know, but still.

"That's what I was trying to tell you during training yesterday," he answers cooley.

"Way to let me know in advance! I totally didn't need a heads up about a stranger staying in our house." I spat my last retort at him and turn to make myself some breakfast.
