I ran up the stairs. My heart was pounding. How could this one guy have such an effect on me? I shook my head and continued to my room. One look in the mirror told me once again that my body and my wolf were betraying me. I was flustered and my cheeks were bright red. I ran into the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face. That only seemed to worsen the hue.
I abandoned my attempts at hiding my blush and went to change. I took off the crop top and shorts leaving me in my under ware. I walked over to my suitcase where all of my clothes were. I decided on a pair of cute khaki shorts that weren't scandalous, but short enough to be comfortable and a bit flirty. The last reason I reluctantly admitted to myself. If I was here, I should at least make the best of it.
I searched through my bag for my sheer white top. I knew it was warm enough outside and if we were going on a hike, I wanted to be comfortable. I eventually found the tank top and blouse I was searching for and turned to the mirror, pleased with my ensemble. I took my hair down from the ponytail and let it hang. It had the perfect bounce and wind swept look.
I slipped on my Sperries and took one last look in the mirror. I guess it was as good as it was going to get. I stepped out of my room, closing the door behind me. Again, I descended the stairs and re-entered the kitchen. Hannah and Sarah were cleaning up from our quick breakfast. Erik was nowhere in sight. I guess Hannah read my confused expression.
"He is in his office," she said with a smile. "You know where?" I nodded my head at her. I knew where the alpha office was from years of coming here as a kid with my dad. I spun on my heel and retreated down the hall.
I could here a trio of rough voices coming from somewhere. I guessed it was from the office. I turned right at the end of the hall and walked a few paces before I was in front of a large set of Oak doors. One was partially open. I took a breath and stepped forward, rapping on the door as I rounded the corner.
There were two men standing in front of Erik's large desk. His office looked exactly as it had when I was a kid, except then, it was his dad's. Between the two, I could see Erik's face. It instantly lit up when he saw me standing in the door. I didn't wait for an invitation and waltzed right in. The two men, who I assumed were Betas or other pack command bowed their heads in my direction.
I was a bit taken back by this. In my pack, I was the top She Wolf, which meant respect. Here? They didn't have to show me any submission or reverence but they did. I lowered my head back, acknowledging their gesture.
"Kass," Erik spoke softly then quickly gained his composure. "Meet my betas," he gestured. "Blake Ashmere and Logan Densmore." Logan! I haven't seen in forever. We used to be friends whenever we were little. Back when my dad and Alpha Lee used to hang out and I came here.
"Kass!" Logan exclaimed, reaching out to pat my back. "Long time, no see."
"I know, right," I exclaimed. He had filled out since his boyhood. His muscles lean and face chiseled. He was handsome.
Not as handsome as our mate, My wolf chimed in. I wanted to laugh but she was right. I couldn't lie about the facts.
"So," he started off, in a joking manner."What have you been up to lately? Other than banging our Alpha?" He added the last bit and jerked away, anticipating the blow that was sure to come. My elbow made contact with his ribs and I growled. I turned and smirked at him. We were back to our old shenanigans.
"If I was," I hissed, "we're doing better than you and your hand!" He frowned at my insinuation at masturbation. Blake and Erik were positively howling with laughter at this point. I couldn't help but laugh at the little remark myself.
