17. Flames

"Erik!" I was standing at the counter helping fry bacon at the stove. He kept trying to steal some of the pieces I had already cooked. "Stop," I whined as he reached an arm around me, attempting to steal more greasy goodness. He grabbed a piece before I could stop him and I let out a playful growl. Still, I let him wrap his arms around me and rest his chin on my shoulder, his hands slipping beneath my shirt as they rubbed small circles over my hip bone. I continued cooking, content in his arms while he gently swayed us to imaginary music.

I felt his lips against my skin, trailing their way along my neck and to my ear. I smiled at his actions allowing his fingers to travel further up my stomach. His lips grazed my mark and he lingered, kissing and nipping at the sensitive area. A shudder ran through my body at the sensation leaving me helpless and wanting more. Even my wolf purred from his touch.

"Erik, come help me," Sarah called from the hallway. I felt his grip loosen as he went to leave my side and go to help his mother. As soon as his hands left my skin, a sharp pain ripped through my torso. My skin was on fire and I was on the floor, crying out as I curled into ball attempting to stop the pain that was ripping through my body. The bacon was forgotten and all I could sense was Erik rushing back to my side.

"It hurts!" I screamed through the flames filling my eyes, ears and mouth. His arms wrapped around me and instant relief filled my bones, though the fires weren't fully extinguished. I clawed closer to Erik's body, needing his skin on mine.

"She's in heat," I heard Sarah mumble through the muffled roar in my head. I could sense more people in the kitchen and the scent told me it was my dad, Grace and Violet. I had forgotten that they were still here, but soon enough Grace was in front of me and Sarah was digging through the cabinets in the kitchen.

"Kass, I need you to look at me." It was Grace and she was standing next to my pained body as I clung to Erik. "This should only be a temporary heat, you haven't been marked long enough for it to be full on." I cried out again as flames licked up my legs in an attempt to engulf me. Erik's cool touch forced them back down as he ran his fingers over my body. "You are going to have to push your wolf back and force her to wait. This is her way of telling you that she thinks it's time to mate and that Erik's wolf is calling to yours. It should go away within the day, but you will have to be patient." She looked up to Erik. "And as much as I hate to say this out loud, you are going to have to... pleasure her... if you get my point."

A growl ripped from my dad's throat at Grace's words. Erik almost released me before another scream wracked my body and I clung to him, shooting my father a glare while tears ran down my face. I didn't even realize I was crying until now. He was just going to have to accept this. Sarah cut into the conversation, holding a bottle of clear liquid.

"Kass, drink this, it will help with the pain and help you and your wolf relax. Erik," she looked at her son, handing him the bottle. "Run her a hot bath." I was ready to get out of the kitchen. My clothes were too hot and I needed Erik.

"Whatever you do," my father cut in. "Do not finish the mating process. I don't care how horny the two of you are, or if Kass is in heat. Our plan will not work if the two of you are already mated." My dad was even more serious than normal.

"Wait, what plan?" I asked, my voice raspy from the pain that was beginning to return. Sarah shook her head at me.

"Go," she urged. "We will talk latter, but do not finish the mating process." Erik scooped me into his arms and began to carry me out of the kitchen.

"Daddy, is Kass okay?" I heard Violet ask my dad. He told her I was fine. "Okay. Well, what does 'horny' mean?" We almost died of laughter as we ascended the stairs. Good job, Dad. I mind linked him quickly. I received a growl in return as we continued up the stairs.
