When we locked eyes, Hayes uickly headed to his table and sat down.
"You good Sade?"
"Huh? Oh yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
"I don't know. I kinda thought you hated him."
"Nope. We agreed to stay friends. Nothing more, nothing less."
"So why did I feel an awkward tention between you two."
"There's nothing to feel awkward about Sean"
"Alright. Chill. Just wanna make sure that I don't have to beat up a kid today."
I laughed and continued to finish my food.
"Sadie I'm gonna go use the bathroom real quick, when the waiter comes, make sure he gets this tip too."
"Ok"
Sean set down a $10 bill on the table for the tip along with $40 for the food. I felt eyes burn into the back of my head making me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I text Sean that I was gonna head to the car.
I grabbed the bill and the money and took it up to the counter and made sure our waiter got his tip. I walked outside and stood at the front of the car to just get some air. As I scrolled through Instagram I saw a shadow next to me.
I looked up And to my left to see Hayes standing there.
"Uh hi?"
"Hey. Didn't mean to scare to or anything."
"No you're fine. So uhhh you're on a date huh?"
"I don't like referring to it as a date but pretty much"
"Why. What's wrong with a date?"
"She's just so pushy and controlling. I didn't wanna go on a date with her busadly guys pressured me into it"
"Oh. Sorry to hear that."
"Eh. Don't be but who really should be saying sorry is me."
"For what? You alread-"
"I know. I apologized over the phone. That's a pussy move so I feel like its my place to tell you in person"
"Ok."
"So I'm really sorry. For everything. I'm sorry if I made you feel like shit or if you just wanted to choke me out, which I'd deserve. You're a great girl Sadie and no I'm not asking you out again but I really hope that we can work our way on being close friends"
"Define close"
"Like where we can go to each other with problems whether it'd be relationships, advice, or just to hang out and talk."
I looked at him for a brief second. He had a look of complete sincerity.
"Yeah. I think I can work with that."
"Great. Because like I've said before, it'd suck ass to lose you completely although I do recall you had a little fangirl crush on me at one point."
"Um who hasn't"
We both laughed and then I saw Sean walking over. Hayes' head turned to his left as we heard an irritaing, high pitch voice call his name.
"Looks like we both gotta go."
"Yeah sadly I have to drive her home while listening to her plan other dates and shit. But uh I'll catch you later if you're still out her?"
"Yeah. Text me or something"
