'Ow...' I thought as I pulled the bandages off of my chest to see the wound. It was pink and redish, I almost wanted to hurl just looking at it. As Tatiana requested I cleaned it dayly so it could heal faster, but I swear this was such a bitch.
When I was done I got a fresh set of bandages on it and pulled on a turtleneck. It was about six in the morning and nobody was up yet, just moi. I had managed to find some cargo pants and wore my usual vest I always wore. My hair was wrapped up in a towel, one of the many things I really didn't bother doing back at the barracks.
If anything, I was doing everything I didn't get to do. Aside from over sleeping, I just couldn't do that. I came downstairs and sat on the couch, in a way I was kind of nervous. I didn't know why.
Then something dropped on my shoulder and I turned around to see the one thing I truely didn't want to see, Shepard. I stumbled backward and tripped on something before he said, "Scarab are you okay?"
"Get away from me!" I snapped.
"Scarab it's only me," His voice. That wasn't Shepard that was Nikoli. The image shifted back to Nikoli and he sighed, "Are you alright?"
"I-I'm fine." I choked out. "Just thought you were someone else. 'Great... Now I'm helucinating! What next?'
"Are you sure," He asked as he held out a hand to get me up. I wearily took it beofre he continued, "WHo did you think I was?"
"Shepard," I muttered.
He obviously heard it and he winced. Finally he let out a breath through his nostril before saying, "Something's wrong with you and I'm sure of it. Maybe Kamarov might know."
"Oh what," I sarcastically asked. "He's a phyciatrist too?"
"No," He shook his head. "He just knows some mental disorders."
"Perfect," I sighed.
When Kamarov came he exaimined me over a moment then asked, "Tell me what you saw when Nikoli tapped you on the shoulder."
"I saw Shepard, with a gun ready to shoot me," I explained. "Then I reconized it being Nikoli and the image faded away."
"Uh," Kamarove pondered," And did he ever approach you with a gun before?"
"Twice," I told him. "Both times he shot me. And in the chest. I'm starting to wonder if he has a bad aim or is doing it on perpose."
Kamarov thought about it for a long moment then looked to me, "I think you have PTSD."
"What," I just stared at him in shock. "No I don't!"
"Think about it," He sighed. "Shepard had shot you two times before and that must have really fucked up your head. Now you thought you saw Shepard when it was Nikoli."
I looked at the floor, maybe he was right.
Meanwhile (Soap)
"I'm picking up more radiotraffic by the sattilite, stand by." I told Roach. "Got it, sounds like the module is in the haggar to the east. Race you there. Oscar Mike."
I then got up from my snowy pearch and trudged through the base, passing by Roach's onslaughter of men. Even I pointed out some of the men I killed. Then I came around a building and took cover behind a barrel. A few minutes past and no Roach.
"Roach I'm waiting behind the hanger with satilite," I said into the com. No reply. I heaved a breath and leaned against the wall, wondering if there would be enough time before Roach came to... my thought ended there. Then I heard the cluck of boots falling down against the concrete and I jumped up feeling my heart skip a beat. It was only Roach, for a second Soap just looked him over and sighed, "Took the sceanic route, eh?"
Roach made a face.
"Let's go," I told him as I reached for the doorknob. With caution I opened the door, then walked down the hall. I heard the sound of someone grumble something and my walk turned to a jog, I rammed a guard into the lockers at the end of the hall. Some even scrambled open. The guard under me flared his arms and thrashed about as I brought out a knife and stabbed it into his neck.
He went limp and a pool of blood formed around him, he was dead. I got up and stroled toward the satalite bringing a tool in my grip. But I could tell Roach was just looking at the dead guard.
"Roach go upstairs and look for the ACS module," I told him as I got to work on this crashed satilite. He left for and I just fiddled around with the scrap satalite. When suddenly the hanger door opened and there was a huge group of Russians. I stepped back with my hands up and whispered into the com, "Roach I've been comprimized, keep a low profile and hold your fire."
A man in the back grabbed a blowhorn and shouted, "This is Major Patrov! To enemy infeltrators, we have captured one of your comrades! You know you are up there, surrender now and we will spare your comrade! If you do not surrender your comrade will die! Very well, I will give you 5 second before I exicute your comrade! You have 5 seconds to comply."
I bit my lip and muttered into the com, "Roach, go to 'Plan B'."
"Five," The major shouted. Roach didn't hit the button. "Four!" Still no Roach. "Three!" No explostion. "Two!" He continued on but still no explostion. "One!"
The Russians rased their guns and then behind an explosion occured. They all whipped aorund to see a huge cloud of thick black smoke. I lookked back at the stairway to see Roach pull his gun out and leap down the steps. We both fired at the distracted Russians then rushed to the edge, "Stay close and hug the wall. We'll use the MIGs for cover and cross the tallmack to the extration point." We shot up the place, then a told Roach, "Roach follow me let's go!"
We rushed away and slid behind some concrete dividers, I inspected our path. A burning MIG not far away, but a lot of Russians.
"Roach head for the MIG I'll cover you," I barked. Without much hesitation Roach ran his way towards the MIG which explosed infront of him. He stop his way around and I followed. Then the humm of something became audible, "Snowmoblies! Take them out!" With an expert shot Roach shot the drives of both and ran as fast as he could to keep up. "Cover me I'm making a break for it!" I shouted back to him. He shot like mad. And for a moment I thought he might shoot me by mistake.
We then jumped down an edge and I summersaulted to the bottom. I kicked my legs out in front of me to get me to slow to a stop. Guard came up and fired down at us, I brought my gun out to shoot but Roach was way ahead of me. He already had four guards down then the last two retreated as snowmoblies came up and drove towards us.
I rushed to the shack nearby and Roach followed, I grabbed my icepick and held it back waiting to strike. I could see the driver come and I slammed the icepick into them. Both fell off and the snowmoblie spun around and stopped facing in the direction we needed to go. Roach killed the occupants of the other and I told him, "Roach, take that snowmoblie we're getting the hell out of here!"
Roach gladdly did and I rushed passed him to get mine, then we were out of here.
"Kelo-61! The primary exaction point has been compromised, meet you at the secondary LZ with enemy transport over!"
"Roger that, Bravo-6. We'll see you there."
"Roach don't slow down keep moving or you're dead," I warned. In a way I could picture Roach being freaked out of his mind. "Go! Go! Go!"
I bursted through the trees behind Roach, and we only picked up speed. IN fact I even crashed into a different snowmoblie and didn't suffer any damage what so ever! As more pissed off Russians chased us I ended up passing Roach and nearly killing myself on some over grown roots. I started going up hill, wind whipping my face.
Without any warning I started to go down, and I could see the bottom of the slope. Looks like we were going to make a flying leap of fate. "Roach pin the throttle!" And before I knew it he zipped past me. I took in a deep breath and hunched myself against the handlebars, and I reached the end. Going airborne, I could see how far of a drop it was. Then I crashed onto the other side, I didn't die at least.
"Bravo-6 we have you on visual. Get your ass on board, we're running on fumes here." The piolt of the helicopter said. We stopped in front of the pavelow and got off. Then trotted into the chopper only to sit down on the benches inside.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Yah I skipped like, half the mission. I only did that out of my laziness.
Well now Soap and Roach are going back to the barracks! Next up we have Takedown and Hornests nest!
And yes i picked the fact that maybe Scarab has been mentally scarred for life. This only adds to the realism to the story I guess.
