Upon her words, I stood to leave. I couldn't take their looks like I was hero, I was no hero. And I knew it.
As I neared the door, I heard Roach ask, "What's with him?" He wouldn't want to know. In fact, he wouldn't understand.
I ran as far as I could away from the mess hall, to the one place I could think of where I could be in peace. When I stopped, I could see the cliffs which dropped down to churning sea below. I took a breath and sat down. My mind reeling and a headach pounding, I could almost wonder if jumping would solve anything.
"Are you okay?" I heard the Spanish accent of Gonzalo behind me. He stepped next to me and sat down by my side, "Why'd you run off like that?"
I sighed longly, if anyone on this whole earth were to understand, it'd probably be him. I guess I could take my chances. "You know how we both saw Scarab at the graveyard?"
He stared at me and nodded slowly.
"Well, and the the fact Irina thinks that I saved her?" I continued. "I dind't. I didn't knwo where she was, Scarab had led me to her, and when I found her..." My voice started to break in memory for seeing the little girl dead. "S-she was dead. But Scarab brought her back! I only carried her back to the base. I didn't pull her out of the water, I didn't make her cough up the water. I found her on teh river bank. Scarab had saved her."
"I know what you're saying," He assured. I could feel his hand rest on my should as some kind guesture for me to cheer up. But I didn't look up from the raving waves and rocks below. "But you shouldn't sell yourself short. You were kind enough to go out and look for her. That counts for something."
"But I just don't like that they think that I saved her." I uttered.
Gonzalo didn't answer with anything.Instead, he just swung his feet over the edge and let them dangle aorund precariously. All I could hear now was the wind gentley blowing in my ears, and the water that crashed on the jagged coast so far down.
"Maybe we should see the new recruits," Gonzalo instisted finally. "That might keep your mind off of her."
I nodded and when with him back to the base.
Ghost was doing role call when we came, he saw us and glanced at me through his orange-red sunglasses. "Well, bout time you turned up, Sir."I nodded in silence.
"Do you want to take over, or should I finish it up?" He asked.
I shook my head and told him, "Go ahead and finish attendence. I'll be here."
He nodded and continued. "Jessica Lumbarbie?"
"Here, sir." A burnette answered. A perky smile of entusiasium was wide on her face, her clear green eyes sparkling with excitement. I felt a pang of sadness, Scarab was the same way when she join, so ready and happy to do what she needed to. I was growing nervous that she would even more similiar to her than I knew already.
"Well good for you," Ghost snorted. He looked up and looked her over, puzzled her thought, "You remind me of someone we had here. Once a long time ago."
Her smile grew wider. "I have my reasons for joining."
"Right, well let's hope your skill matches your enthusiasim." Ghost retorted and continued. I wasn't paying much attention after that, just wondering if this Jessica girl was as similiar to Scarab as I was somewhat hoping. Half of me wanted her to be just like her, but yet, I didn't want to fall head over heels for some girl who'd die on me.
Attendence was over and the recruits were given a tour around the place. Now I was walking down the hall alone. And kept thinking about that Jessica woman, how could she be some similiar. Then someone pushed me to the wall, my thoughts racing as I felt the warm breath on my cheek. A hand was over my eyes, and I kept wondering who the hell would do this?
"Oi, get your hands off me before I shank you!" I barked and started to pull the hand off. Only for another hand to pin it down. "I mean it!" I hissed.
The faint whisper was in my ear, it was heart breakingly familiar, "Oh hush, I know you want this."
"S-Scarab?" I studdered in amazment.
"No," The voice snorted. "But I know you want this. You wouldn't stop staring at me."
I was dumbfounded, but I could feel this person's lips come to mine. I kept my mouth shut and would try turning my face away, but she would only antisipate it and smuther my lips with kisses. I had one idea felt other than murdering this person, "RA_" Given the chance, she shoved her tounge in, I had enough of this. With all my energy in one move, I bit the tresspassing part and punched this person in the stomach.
I heard a gag, and then this person stumbled, but somehow kept a hand on my eyes.
Determined not to let me know who this person was. On the ground now, this person was pushing right up to my chest, and I could barely hear the zipper of my pants being undone. But turned myself around and shoved an elbow into her ribcage and managed to pull free. Then on the ground was Jessica! My heart pounded hard. "What the hell was that about? I don't need to be raped!"
Everyone was in the hall now. All staring at me and Jessica. Price came up and asked, "Now what the bloody hell is going on?!"
"She_" I pointed a finger at her in accusion. "Tried to force me into french kissing her!"
Everyone's gaze fell on her then she hissed, "NO! He tried to rape me!" Then I noticed something else, she has covered in bruises and was missing her pants. I swear to god that wasn't my fault!
"Soap? Why?" Price looked at me, I'm getting sick of NO ONE believing a WORD I say!
"Price, I know I didn't do half of those bruises! And she didn't have pants to begin with. I was just walking down the hall and she pushed me to a wall and tried to make out with me. I was only trying to get her away from me, but I resorted to having to punch her in the stomach, she fell and pulled me down with her. But then she started to try and take of my pants, so I had to elbow her ribcage." I explained.
"NOT TRUE!" She cried. "He pushed me to a wall! He tore of my pants and tried to undo his! And whenever I would try to break free, he'd punch me!"
Price looked from her to me, why must they never believe me? I was telling the TRUTH! Then a voice in the crowd pointed out, "The Captain hadn't been right since Scarab died! Why wouldn't he try doing this?" I could tell it was Lefty.
Price finally barked, "Alright, everyone, in your rooms! Soap, Jessica. Your two stay out here, I am gonna get to teh bottom of this one way or another." Everyoen went back to their rooms. In the distraction, I rezipped my pants, but Jessica did nothing to fix herself up. When they left, Price looked back at me, "Now I'd hate to say you'd do anything like this, Soap. But how would Jessica get so badly bruised?"
"I told you," I reminded. "I was tryign to get her off of me, so I punched her in the stomach, we both fell. When she tried to undo my pants, I turned myself around and elbowed her ribs. What I did was out of selfdefence."
"No," Jessica argued. "You just plowed me to the wall and tore off my_"
Price stopped her, "Alright, Soap, I don't know how what you did could leave bruises on her legs and such. Or how she could have bruises on his face. I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to go with Jessica's side of the story."
"What?" The word excaped me in total shock. "How do you if she just had someone else punch her so it looks like she was beat up? I know that I didn't do what she claimed."
Price seemed frustatingly unfazed by my words. "I'm sorry, but her's makes the most sense. Soap, I don't want to do what I need to do, but my hands are tied. I'll discuse your punisment with General Brenat. As for now, get to you rooms."
I stormed down to mine, completely urying myself in the covers. After what had happened, I didn't know if I could sleep.
