A Duel on Two Fronts Part 1

Overlooking New Domino City stood a tall building, inside was very impressive and classy. Big screen tv, a large couch and a view that would make anyone gasp in awe. A double door opens and Naoto stood just outside with two men holding the doors open for him.

Man: "Please, wait in here. The director will be with you shortly." The man informed Naoto.

Naoto: "Uh, sure." Uncertain of what to expect, Naoto enters the room and looks around. "Nice place. Though, I would've preferred coming for a better reason than a missing reason." The door opens again and Goodwin steps inside.

Goodwin: "Naoto, I'm glad you accepted this little meeting."

Naoto: "I didn't have a choice." Naoto sits down on the couch. "Look I'm just gonna cut to the chase, if I duel Jack and win, do you promise to let Yusei go?" Naoto asks.

Goodwin: "Hm. I understand what you're trying to do. It's very noble of you to risk so much to rescue your friend. But this seems to only benefit you. Surely there must be something you can provide should you lose this duel."

Naoto: "What do you want?"

Goodwin: "A deal of sorts. Should you lose the duel, you agree to assist me."

Naoto: "Assist you with what?"

Goodwin: "As you know Yusei is being held at the Facility. I offered him a chance to assist in a little project, however he refused which puts me in a rather difficult position."

Naoto: "So, you wanna use me to get to Yusei?" Naoto asked bluntly.

Goodwin: "Come now, don't look at it like that. Yusei might be of great importance to what I need him for."

Naoto: "You mean the Crimson Dragon?" This seemed to catch Goodwin's attention. "I saw it. I was right there when it appeared. And then, I saw all these weird images in my head. And every time Yusei and Jack's dragons fought, it got worse and worse. The pain was real and I saw, I don't know what. The future or something else."

Goodwin: "Is that so? And what exactly did you see?" He asked skeptical.

Naoto: "Most of its s blur. But there is one that sticks out. I saw these weird drawings in the ground in some kind of desert or something."

Goodwin: "Hm." This piqued Goodwin's interest. He turns to face the window and stares at Naoto in the reflection. 'This boy might be more useful than I thought.'

Meanwhile in the Facility, Yusei was being taken to a deeper part of the institution.

Guard A: "Welcome to your new home sweet home. We call it--the Hive."

Guard B: "This is where Chief Armstrong likes to house the worst of the worst." Yusei looks up and sees the prisoners on the upper levels. "Come on--keep walkin'." One of the guards pushes Yusei forward. Above, Armstrong is heard laughing.

Armstrong: "This should be fun! Hope you have a pleasant stay. The director general sends his regards."

Back in the Satellite, a familiar duo were underground working on a pet project.

Toru: "Man, it feels like forever since we've heard from Naoto." Toru said leaning back in his chair. "You think he's doing alright?" He asks Misaki who was busy working on a circuit breaker.

Misaki: "Not sure. Hopefully he and Yusei are staying out of trouble. Rally and the others are getting a little worried too. All we can do is have faith."

Toru: "Yeah." Suddenly, a broadcast was being played on the tv in their hideout.

Announcer: "Ladies and gentlemen, today we have an unprecedented duel today featuring the master of faster, Jack Atlas going up against or mystery duelist Naoto Kidō!"
