Chapter Seven - Small Talks

Haneul woke up by herself. Seeing that she was still wearing her uniform, she suddenly remembered what happened in the morning. "It's 4 P.M. already." She stated as she got up.

The girl opened the curtain only to see Wonwoo sleeping on the couch. "What is he doing he-oh yeah."

Haneul looked at the sleeping boy and thought, he isn't a bad guy after all. In fact, she was thankful. It's actually rare to find a guy who would do this for a girl these days. Some guys would just take you home and leave after but Wonwoo was different.

She stared at Wonwoo's face and smiled. "You're not really a bad guy."

Noticing he was sweating because there was no air conditioner or anything, she wiped the sweat with the handkerchief from her skirt pocket. He moved a little but did not wake up. The sweat dripped down to his neck. Her mind was arguing whether to wipe it as well or just leave it like that. But Haneul figured it'll be bad if the sweat dries so she wiped it off gently.

She looked like a creeper but a little help would repay his kindness towards her.

After a while, he woke up. "You're awake." He said, smiling.

"Look, I'm sorry if you have to go through all this." Haneul explained. "I am really sorry for being such a big burden to you. I swear I'll repay you someda-"

Haneul's eyes widened when he suddenly placed his index finger onto her lips making her shut it. "No need, Haneul. I don't ask for paybacks when I help people."

He realized he just did something awkward. "I'm sorry."

She remained silent looking everywhere but him. It was really awkward.

"Hey, if you w-wanna go uh h-home, just tell you-I mean me." She stuttered.

"Why are you stuttering? Are you okay?" Wonwoo asked, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"N-no! I mean okay no I mean yes. Yes I'm okay."

Wonwoo sighed and got back to his sitting position. "If it's because of the sudden contact of my finger to your lips, I'm sorry."

"N-no. It's just that, I've never experienced this kind of thing. I mean a boy placing his fingers on my lips. It's just, weird." She explained. "I mean, Jeonghan doesn't really do that."

"Seems like you're the kind of girl who goes back and forth between school and house only."

"It's not like that. I actually do morning walks. What I mean is that, the only guy friend I have is Jeonghan and you, my new found fri-"

"Don't worry Haneul, I get you. It was the same for me when I was in high school." He said trying to make her feel better.

"Wew, I'm glad you feel me." She sighed. "Aren't you tired? Do you need anything? Coffee? Tea? Hot choco? Wait, it's summer. How about some shake?"

"No, thank you." Wonwoo smiled warmly. "I think you need some treat, not me."

"The sunset is always beautiful." Haneul smiled.

"You know you should smile more." Wonwoo muttered. "It makes you look more beautiful. Even more beautiful than the sunset."

And that made her smile more.

"So, tell me about yourself. Why did you choose nurse?" She changed the topic. He noticed, but didn't care at all.

"Well, my name is Jeon Wonwoo. I'm 19 and if you're wondering why I'm a nurse and still 19, then that'll be a mystery." He laughed with his oh-so deep voice. "I chose nurse because I want to take care of people. I wanted to take care of my grandma but it was too late so I ended up taking care of strangers."

Haneul was about to say something when he spoke once again. "But about me taking care of you, is an exception. You don't have to worry about it."

"You know I am so thankful that I met you." Haneul smiled.

I am thankful too, he thought.

"Can I just ask? Why Sky High?"

"Because that was the only school that offered full scholarship. And that time, I really needed to go to school and have a part time job so I can save money for college." She replied.

And for the very first time in his life, he felt sorry for someone-a girl. Wonwoo thought she was the kind of girl who is actually wealthy and lives on a rooftop because she just wanted to. Well, if you're gonna judge her by her looks, you'll probably think so too. A girl who goes to Sky High, one of the post well known and expensive high schools in the country.

"You know you can ask help from me." He turned to look at her but she was focusing on the sunset.

And that made Haneul chuckle. "I already feel burdened because you helped me a lot this day and you helping me with college is a no no. Besides Jeonghan said, I am a stro-oh freak."

"What is it?" He started to get worried and he doesn't know why.

The dance is the day after tomorrow, she thought. "Nevermind. Nothing." She smiled.

"Just tell me okay?" Wonwoo stated and she nodded.

After that, no one said a word. They focused on the sunset. And when it was fully down, he felt her head on his shoulder. He smiled and he didn't know why. Maybe because he felt good that someone actually trusted him? Maybe because he felt good that he actually helped someone? Wonwoo leaned his head on top of Haneul's head, smile not leaving his lips.
