Chapter Thirteen - 1 4 3

"Oh dear gracious holy!"

Those words made them look at the person who spoke it. And it was Soonyoung and Chan, in a uniform. They must be working here, she thought. But feeling the weight on top of her made her scream. Realizing what's actually happening, Wonwoo quickly got off of her and helped her stand up.

"What did we just witnessed?" Soonyoung said, blinking a couple of times.

Haneul squeaked and ran to the cashier to pay for the things she bought. "Make it fast please, I beg you." She looked at the cashier and it was Wonwoo.

She was hallucinating.

"Aaaah!" She screamed again, running outside the bookstore. Haneul made it to a convenience store and bought two bottles of water. She drank them straight and breathed heavily.

"H-Haneul!" She looked up only to see a panting Chan. "You forgot your-"

Haneul looked at him for the second tine and didn't see Chan but Wonwoo-again so she ran as fast as she could. "What did I do wrong to deserve this?!" She yelled running. Yes, she looked like a mad young lady but she didn't care at all. Finally, she stopped and sat on the bench she found.

Suddenly, a car stopped in front of her. The window slid down revealing Wonwoo. "Haneul, why did you run like that?" He asked, looking so worried.

Her eyes widened as she froze on the spot. Do not look at him, she kept repeating in her mind. But she did.

"If you're thinking about what happened earlier, it was an accident okay?" He chuckled, taking a seat beside her. "An accident. Accidents happen and they are inevitable."

"Since when did you use the word inevitable?" Haneul finally calmed down.

"Just now." He laughed and it was music to her ears. His deep voice made her feel safe for a weird reason.

"You know, I think you should be a rapper, not a nurse." She leaned her head on his shoulder.

Thud, thud, thud was all his heart could say.

"I mean, you got the looks, the voice, the height, and stuff." Haneul chuckled. She was basically complimenting the boy but she didn't care.

Suddenly, a reality hit her.

"You know, I never thought I'd be like this." She started.

"What do you mean?" Wonwoo asked, leaning his head on top of her.

"I never acted the way I did earlier. My whole life, I was just a girl who doesn't really scream and run like that. I was more of like a quiet girl. But you came along." She sighed. "I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I actually became more lively and I don't know, free? It's just that happiness is temporary."

"Shut up." He said, not really agreeing with her last sentence. "Yes, happiness may or may not be temporary but that does not mean when it ends, you can't find your happiness again. Happiness comes into your life and goes but eventually it will come back."

"I don't even know anymore." She sighed as if she was carrying the whole world. "I mean, I have lots of problems. There are distractions and I just, hate them."

"That's because you're always thinking of the dark side. Life is actually wonderful, Haneul. You're alive. You're breathing right now."

"Dang boy." She laughed. "I'm not gonna commit suicide."

"Just saying." He smiled.

Jeonghan is a great guy but Wonwoo made her feel more free. He made her get out of her shell.

"You make me," Haneul said, pausing. "happy? funny? I don't really know but I thank you for barging into my life. Yes, I said barging because you came in like a wrecking ball. But a good kind of wrecking ball."

"Is there even a good kind of wrecking ball?" Wonwoo said. "Wait, so you're saying I'm a wrecking ball?"

"I have no idea what I'm saying I'm sorry. I'm babbling things suddenly." She said, voice cracking. "Now my voice is cracking."

"Don't worry, it's cute."

Thud, thud, thud was all her heart could say.

They went silent as they looked at the stars. And they stayed like that.

-

Few weeks had passed and Wonwoo feels more and more closer to Haneul. But Haneul feels far away from Jeonghan. Everyday, she's hanging with Wonwoo, forgetting Jeonghan.

"Jeonghan." Jeonghan was just sitting there writing something and she clinged her arms onto his neck. It made him stop writing in surprise. "143."

His eyes widened. 143? He thought. She was unpredictable.

"143, I miss you."

His head fell down. It was ridiculous to think that Haneul would say those words to him. They were just best friends. "Really?" He whispered. She rested her chin on his shoulder and nodded, "yes."

"Jeonghan, you're hot." Haneul stood up.

Hot? He thought again. Why was she like this?

"Really. Are you sick?!" She panicked, placing the back of her hand against his forehead. "Stand up!"

And he stood up. "I'm not sick." He stated. "Just not feeling that well."

"For goodness' sake Jeonghan, you're sick! Let me get some medicine-"

He held your hand. "No, a hug would make me feel better."

"But your fever will transfe-"

"Please?"

She hugged him. He returned the hug but it was even tighter. "You do realize that I would get sick too right?" She whispered.

"Shh, it's Saturday tomorrow." He laughed. "It's fun to be sick with the person you love."

Thud, thud, thud was all her heart could say.
