The next day, Lienne gathered the courage to tell Jackson that she did want to be with him.
She ran out of the house and then ran back in, she had forgotten her scarf. Then she came out again with a warm, wool scarf around her neck.
She ran to Jackson's house, slipping once or twice, but she picked herself up again. Why am I even running?
But she felt like it was urgent. She felt it was important and that she needed Jackson to know.
Then she knocked on the door of Jackson's house, looking up at Jackson's house. She breathed hot air into her hands and began to self-consciously fix her hair.
Brian opened the door and blinked when he saw Lienne.
"Is-" Lienne started.
"If you're looking for Jackson he just went out."
"Oh, really? Where to?" She asked. A little confused.
"I told him to go to the supermarket, I didn't know he was expecting someone." Brian's cheeks flared up in shame, "Sorry."
Lienne waved it off, "No, it's fine, he wasn't expecting a visitor either. I just came out of the blue."
"Want to come in?" Brian asked.
Lienne looked around, as if still searching for Jackson. "Sure."
"Who was it, Brian?" Rachel asked, then she saw Lienne, "Oh."
Lienne jumped, "Hi!" She greeted a little too over-enthusiastically. She still believed Rachel had the hots for Jackson, but Lienne really wanted Rachel to like her, she wanted a girl to talk to.
"Listen, I'm really sorry about how rude I was." Rachel blurted, then she walked towards Brian, "I don't like Jackson anymore." She smiled.
"Y-You don't?" Lienne spluttered.
"Yep, Brian is my little cutie patootie, now." Rachel pinched Brian's cheeks teasingly.
Brian blushed, "We have a visitor." He mumbled.
Lienne had her eyes wide open, she also had her face set in a disturbed frown, their public affection made her a little uneasy but it was cute.
And besides... Cutie patootie? Talk about overkill.
"I'll make some tea." Brian said, smiling.
When he left the room, Rachel sighed dreamily, "Isn't he sooo charming?"
Lienne opened her mouth to speak but Rachel interrupted her, "Of course he is... You know he'd make such a good husband." Then she giggled.
Lienne cleared her throat, "Er, yes."
Rachel finally seemed to snap her eyes to Lienne's direction, "So what're you doing here anyways?"
"I'm here to look for Jackson." She fidgeted.
"What for?" Rachel asked nonchalantly, putting her feet up the sofa, looking at the ceiling, "Need to copy his homework?"
Lienne frowned in confusion, "What? No-"
"That's strange." Rachel rolled on her stomach and propped her head on her arm, "All the people who visit Jackson either want to copy his homework or want his money."
"I'm not like that." Lienne said in disgust. "And I'm just here to talk to him... About stuff."
Rachel suddenly got up and walked over to Lienne, looking into her eyes. "About a date, right?"
