The pale, silvery light of the monitors washed over her face, making her look almost fragile enough to disappear if he blinked too long. Akshat pulled the stool closer to her bed, the scrape of its legs faint against the cold floor. He sat down slowly, his eyes never leaving her.

Her lashes fluttered lightly as she watched him, her breathing soft and uneven beneath the oxygen tube. He reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and let his fingers trace along her forehead , careful not to disturb the bandage. His touch was tender, reverent, almost hesitant, as if she were something divine that his mortal hands didn't deserve to touch.

"Bas..." he whispered under his breath, voice breaking into a shaky smile. "Bas itna dekh lena tha..."

He let his fingers move into her hair, brushing the strands away from her face, smoothing them like a habit that never left him. Then, unable to hold back, he leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss onto her head. His lips lingered there for a second longer than he meant to , the warmth of her skin beneath his tears undoing him completely.

Amrit's fingers twitched faintly. She tried to speak, her lips parting, voice weak and hoarse. "Aks,"

But before the word could leave her mouth, he shook his head quickly, his hand gently cupping her cheek. "Shh..." he murmured, his voice trembling with emotion. "Don't say anything right now. Doctors ne mana kiya hai, remember?"

Her eyebrows furrowed just a little , the familiar stubborn expression that even her weakness couldn't hide. It made him smile through the tears clinging to his lashes. "See? You're still the same," he whispered softly, a watery smile breaking through.

Her eyes softened, and for a moment they just looked at each other , the world quiet, the machines forgotten, the air filled only with the hum of life returning between them.

The door creaked open gently, breaking the stillness. The doctor stepped inside, clipboard in hand, his tone gentle but firm. "Mr. Singhania," he said, glancing at Akshat with understanding. "She's stable now, but she needs uninterrupted rest for a few hours. We'll be running another set of tests and adjusting her IV. You can meet her again after that."

Akshat looked up at him, hesitant to move, his hand still in hers. "Just a few more minutes, doctor,"

The doctor smiled faintly, shaking his head. "She needs to sleep now. You've waited five months... you can wait a few more hours, can't you?"

Those words , gentle, but true , made something twist in Akshat's chest. He looked back at her, his eyes softening again. Her gaze met his, calm, reassuring, as if she was the one telling him it was okay to go.
