Everley POV
"What a glorious day!" I exclaimed happily as I ran to the palace balcony.
Victory has come!
Banners of crimson and white fluttered from the newly rebuilt palace towers, their edges catching the torchlight like tongues of flame. The air shimmered with the scent of roses and incense. A perfect perfume for triumph and rebirth.
As I looked along the grand hall, polished marble reflected the glow of a hundred chandeliers. Ivy and golden lilies climbed the pillars, symbols of resilience reborn from ruin. Musicians played soft fanfares that rose like the heartbeat of a renewed kingdom - solemn, proud, and unyielding.
The hall shimmered with life as laughter filled the air. Guests clustered in warm circles, their voices rising and falling in cheerful cadence stories of loyalty, bravery, and long-awaited peace shared from one smiling face to another.
Some danced with gentle sways, others spun with elegant grace. It was a vision of joy after sorrow, laughter blooming where silence once reigned, the people moving as though even the air itself had learned to dance again.
At the end of the hall stood the restored throne. The sigil of the crown gleamed above it, not as a reminder of power, but of endurance.
And of course our chef's finest cuisines awaited us. I couldn't wait to devour everything.
"Our preparations are complete. Now the only missing one..." I sighed. "Scelus!", I called
"What?!" he shouted back from the palace grounds, already annoyed.
"When will Princess Amber be back?!" I called.
"How should I know?! I've never exchanged contact with that she-devil!" he snapped. I rolled my eyes.
"You're a waste of time," I laughed, though disappointment pricked me. Princess Amber had been gone for two weeks since leaving to save Zephyr from the Lamia.
"Sigh... where could she be?" I murmured, leaning on the handrail.
"Looking for me?"
I instantly straightened as that familiar voice echoed behind me. I turned and screamed.
"Oh my gosh! You're back!" I threw myself at Princess Amber, hugging her tightly.
"Missed me that much, huh?" she teased, and I nodded eagerly.
"I'm so happy you're back!"
"Well, it looks like you and Scelus did a fine job here," she said. I stepped back proudly.
"Yes! And we've been waiting for your return to start the celebration!"
"Only me? Prince Zale has returned too." She gestured downwards where Zale and Scelus were already bickering.
"Ugh, those two will ruin the day," I groaned. Princess Amber laughed.
"Come on. You both deserve this. Your kingdom has risen again."
"I guess so..."
"Alright! Let's go celebrate!" she said, and excitement surged through me.
