Zale POV

"Your highness! The poison is getting worse, our cleansers are not working anymore."

"I knew that mana's can't solve this problem!"

"The people are dying!"

"What should we do your highness??"

This nobles keep stinging my ear. Their voices are enclosed within this council room. They're putting the pressure in me now that my father is nearly in his deathbed succumbed by the poison that Lamia cause.

"Gael, what's her situation? ", I asked him who was standing to my right side

"She's still peacefully sitting on that anemone.", he said and I scoffed

Peacefully, huh? She completely lost it.

" Prince Zale, that demon's poison is spreading quickly through the kingdom... Aren't you going to do something? "

"Learn to shut your mouths if none of you is gonna face that demon.", I said with a sharp look to their faces that made them flinched and gulped their egos. "Just hide here and cower while I end this.", I stood firmly and left the room with a heavy atmosphere on them

" Tsk. Cowards. ", I said as I walk along the hallways

“Now, now… just let them stay dead in your head. Be brave and face your childhood trauma,” Gael said as he followed behind me.

“What a troublesome demon,” I scoffed, continuing to walk.

We arrived at the balcony of the palace, where the entire kingdom lay before us—now swallowed in darkness, its waters tainted by Lamia’s poison.

There she was, at the center of the palace’s water grounds. Black tears streamed down her face, melting her skin as she sat upon a massive sea anemone that spread venom through the waters. According to the knights, Lamia had suddenly thrown herself into the water this morning and attacked when they tried to approach. I could feel it—her unstable state of mind. Something had clearly triggered her outburst.

And I think I know what it is. Whatever Princess Amber did to her mind must have driven her into this madness.

“So, what’s the plan, Your Highness?” Gael asked, his tone making me feel the weight of responsibility on my shoulders.

“There’s no plan to begin with,” I replied. “She’s already desperate—helpless, even.”

“Hmm… and how do you know that?”

“She’s been tormenting me since I was a child. Of course I know how she feels.” I stepped closer to the edge of the balcony.
