Izzy's POV
The welcoming mat of Jullia's house was a sight I hadn't seen in a while. After our long and gruesome fight, the thought of being back at her house was odd. But now that I was here, I was filled with relief. Keeping my distance from her was challenging.
But now I was here, possibly breaking it all off again! This thought about Jullia and Adam... it was something that I needed to confront her about. Josh would never lie to me, I know he wouldn't.
I lift my fist to the door, and pounded against it. Silence. The beautiful, yet basic Elmsville mansion shone with lights. The huge glass windows offered the vision of someone walking towards the door. Emma answered.
"Hello! Izzy?" Emma said, perplexed because of my arrival. She was wearing ripped jeans and a tight white shirt. My the sounds of clinking utensils, I could tell the family was eating dinner. I walked in the house.
"Sorry, am I interrupting?" I ask. Emma shakes her head, and motions for me to join them. I walk down a grand hallway, into a fancy kitchen. A long wooden table sits in the middle of the room, and I find Jullia, Mr. Shumm, Ms. Shumm, and Claudia, Jullia's sister. Emma walks to her seat.
"Izzy!" Jullia says excitedly. Everyone turns, and Ms. Shumm smiles.
"Well, Izzy! Long time no see. Please, sit and eat!" I walk awkwardly to a seat that Jullia pulled up, right next to her. I'm offered spaghetti, but I pass. I already ate.
"So, how have you been?" Mr. Shumm asks. I suddenly feel insecure. I never liked being with another family, by myself. I feel like I have to impress them.
"Alright, I guess. I mean, I'm so ready for summer!"
"This entire family is too!" Jullia said. "I just want summer to come quicker!" She stuffed her mouth with spaghetti, and swallowed it fast.
"So, I'm guessing you want to talk to Jullia, Izzy. Dinner is just about finished. You can go wait in her room for awhile, if you aren't hungry" Ms. Shumm said. I nodded, and got up from my seat. Feeling exiled, I crawled up the stairs, into Jullia's room. I almost cried out in relief. I used to walk to her house when my mother would be ignoring me. I would spend the night here, and we would laugh and talk and play. Nothing was better than throwing myself into Jullia, pouring out my saddest moments. She would always listen, and reply with her opinion, no matter how harsh.
Her giant bed white and pink, and O sat down to rest. A few minutes later, the sounds of steps came slowly up the stairs. Emma was visible through Jullia's opened bedroom door. She was pouting, sulking her way towards her bedroom door. Before she closed it, she peeked around to make sure no one was watching her. Then she slammed the door.
A flustered Jullia came up after, and closed the door behind her as well.
"What's up?" She asked. "You didn't text me, you just showed up out of the blue"
"That's because I needed to drag myself here to ask you something. I'm not mad at you, I just want to know if this information is true..." I said. Jullia raised her eyebrow, nervously. She looked me up and down.
"Is something wrong?"
"Did you try to steal Adam from me? When I was dating him?" As I said it, I laughed. Why would Jullia do that. Why would anyone do that to their best friend. I was kind of embarrassed.
"What!" Jullia said, bursting out laughing. "No! Where did you get that idea!?!?"
"From a friend" I found myself saying. But Josh- he said it was true! Why would he make up such a far- fetched lie. It seemed foolish. He would have known I would ask Jullia, or Adam. And what would happen then? My recent feelings for Josh shattered again. He was some lying, player after all. He probably just said what he said to be with me, even if it was for a moment.
