I've been to a few high school parties, and let's just say that this one took the cake. the ones that I've attended have been sort of lame. they were mostly filled with matt and joey's friends, and they weren't exactly 'cool'. by no means am I popular, but since I'm with luke I have moved up on the social ladder.
the music was blasting through the speakers and people were grinding up against each other. gross. luke & I were bombarded with teenagers offering us drinks. I politely said no while luke took a cup.
we spotted ashton in the corner with his tongue down some girl's throat. michael was nowhere to be seen.
"so...what do you wanna do?" luke awkwardly asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"I don't know, what do you usually do at high school parties?" I said.
"beer pong or seven minutes in heaven. yeah, you could say I've been to my fair share of parties." he replied. I knew that luke was your typical, partying teenage boy before he met me. I guess he's changed, partially because of my influence.
"yo, winnie! isn't this party sick?" a drunken michael asked.
"mikey, how much have you had to drink?" luke asked.
"uhhhhh, I don't remember. by the way, I'm the beer pong champion." he replied.
"I used to beat you all the time." luke said.
"wanna play, hemmings? since you're the best."
"nah, I'll pass. I don't wanna leave winter." luke grabbed my hand.
"I'll play." I said and michael looked absolutely shocked.
"seriously? you'll play? miss good-girl winter wilkinson?" I nodded.
in the ninth grade I was deemed the school good girl. I never missed a day of school, had perfect grades, and never got involved with boys. especially ones with reputations like luke's. my parents raised me to be that way.
"you're on." michael said, leading me towards the table. all of the cups were lined up and it was surrounded by drunk teenagers. I saw ashton with his new girl toy, but the rest I didn't recognize.
"alright. it'll be me and ashton against luke and his girl, winter." michael said.
"hemmings is whipped!" someone shouted and luke groaned.
"shut up. let's just play." luke said.
"um, how exactly do you play?" I asked and everyone laughed.
"aw. you're so innocent it hurts. you just have to try and get the ball into a cup. then the other team has to drink that whole cup." michael explained.
"seems easy enough." I replied.
ashton threw first, and of course it landed in one of our cups.
"I'll drink it," luke said, grabbing the cup. i snatched it out of his hands and drank it all. it tasted absolutely horrible.
i threw one of our balls and it landed perfectly in a cup. michael drank all of it. lucky for us, ashton and michael were pretty bad at beer pong. I, on the other hand, was pretty good.
"damn, hemmings. your girl is beating you at your own game."

the alcohol was running through my veins. I could literally feel it. I felt alive and unstoppable. luke was next to me, a cup in his hand. I don't remember how much either of us has had to drink.
"winnie, you've had enough." luke said, trying to grab my cup.
"oh c'mon, lucas. let me live a little!"
"we're going home. ashton! michael! we're leaving." luke said, and the two boys followed.
once we got in the car, I could hear voices. I couldn't quite point out who it was, but I think it was luke.
we started to drive and I felt my eyes starting to feel heavy. I let myself fall into a deep slumber in the backseat.
