winter

I woke up in luke's bed, with his body pressed against mine. his head was nuzzled into my neck.  luke always commented on how good my hair smelled, and sometimes he would steal my shampoo.

"morning," luke whispered. I didn't even think he was awake.

"hey." he sat up in bed and I pulled him back down.

"why'd you move? I was so comfortable." I whined, pulling him closer.

"you know I love just cuddling with you, but we actually have plans today." luke said, grabbing me and picking me up. he carried me downstairs.

all of the boys were eating breakfast at the kitchen table. calum and ashton were shirtless and michael was practically falling asleep at the table.

"you ready for an exciting day today?" ashton asked.

"hush, she doesn't know yet." luke replied and the three boys looked at him.

"why haven't you told her? you're the one who planned this whole thing." michael said. if luke planned this, then it must be really special.

"okay, okay. we're going on a road trip to start celebrating your birthday weekend." my birthday was in three days. usually, my entire family comes into town and we celebrate. this year, I'm turning 18.

"I'm so excited! when are we leaving? where are we going? do my parents know because they might-"

"winter, chill. everything's already settled. your parents are totally okay with this." he replied.

"seriously? even my dad is cool with this?" he nodded.

"we're actually leaving in a half hour, so go pack." luke said. I ran upstairs and grabbed my bag of the clothes I keep here. I changed into jeans and a sweater, since it was sort of cold outside.

when I returned back downstairs, the boys were all ready, but they were joined with two other people. my best friends, matt and joey.

"oh my god!" I said, hugging them both.

"your 18th birthday wouldn't be complete without us. when luke asked us to join you guys, we couldn't pass up the offer." matt said.

we walked to ashton's car and loaded our belongings in the trunk. ashton started to climb into the driver's seat when calum stopped him.

"there is no way I'm letting you drive after you almost got us killed yesterday." calum said.

"you're over exaggerating. maybe I'm not the best driver, but you guys didn't die. you're still alive, right?" calum rolled his eyes and pushed ashton aside. we all piled into the car.

"where are we going?" I asked once we started driving.

"you'll see. it's a long drive, so get comfortable." luke replied. I snuggled into his shoulder and he wrapped an arm around me.

"we're here." calum said. we were driving for what had to be 8 hours, since it was now dark outside.

"welcome to virginia beach, stop one of winter's 18th birthday trip." michael announced. we stepped out of the car and immediately the air smelled of salt. I noticed that we were parked along the beach. I haven't been to a beach since middle school.

the seven of us began to walk along the beach. the moon reflected off of the water and it was beautiful. luke held my hand really tightly.

"oh shit guys. we gotta get going to the hotel. the place closes at 10." ashton said. we walked back to his car and drove to the hotel.

it was a huge yellow building that stuck out from the others. the westin was a very fancy hotel. they handed out cookies when you checked in. michael especially loved that.

we headed to our rooms. ashton, calum, and michael were all sharing a room and joey and matt got their own. luke and I had a separate one as well.

"I'm getting my own bed." ashton said.

"I'm cool with that. calum's quite the cuddler." michael smirked. calum sighed and walked into the room.

luke took my hand and escorted me into the room. it was big with towels shaped into animals on the bed. he threw our luggage down and jumped into the bed.  I ran and jumped on top of him. he giggled liked a little boy.

"thank you for all of this." I said once we got settled under the sheets. our legs were intertwined and tangled together.

"don't thank me. anything for you, princess." those words made my heart melt.

I felt safe and secure with luke lying next to me. I felt myself slowly drifting off into sleep.

sounds good feels good came out on friday and this album is flawless. it makes me so happy. I'm so proud of them. I also got tickets to sounds live feels live on July 20th in Jacksonville!
