(CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW CUTE THAT PICTURE OF LUKE IS OH MY GOD)
-
winter
I woke up in the uncomfortable hotel room bed, alone with no one to occupy the empty side. on a typical morning, luke's long body is draped across mine, our legs intertwined. my heart was filled with emptiness and longing. on the other side of the door, I heard whispering.
"are you sure she's awake?" that voice belonged to ashton.
"yeah, man. she never sleeps past 10." that was luke. next thing I knew, the boys were storming into my room with cake, balloons, and they were all wearing birthday hats.
'HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINNIE!!', they all shouted in unison. I couldn't help but giggle.
"do you feel old now that you're officially an adult?" calum said.
"now you get to do things the rest of us do, like pay taxes and get a legit job." michael said sarcastically.
"oh, please. you don't have a real job." ashton said and michael punched him in the bicep.
"you know we can't cook so we bought a cake from the grocery store. surprise...?" luke grinned and showed off the cake.
it was blue, my favorite color, and had happy birthday winter written out in black icing.
we took the cake into the kitchen so we could slice it. between matt, joey, the boys, and I, that cake did not stand a chance.
"can you believe it? we're seeing twenty one pilots tonight! we have to get barricade obviously, so we should leave the hotel no later than noon. we need to eat lunch first so actually we need to leave at-" luke rambled on. he tends to do that when he's nervous.
"okay, I get it. I'll start getting ready now." his cheeks flushed and the boys teased him.
-
choosing an outfit was one of the constant daily struggles I faced. it wasn't that I didn't have anything to wear, it's just I didn't have many outfits for special occasions like today.
michael had bought me a twenty one pilots shirt for christmas, so I wore that since it matched the event. I paired it with my high waisted shorts and some converse.
"how does one look that good in a plain white t-shirt?" I said when luke was finally dressed.
"what can I say, I look hot all the time." he smirked. (cracked a devilish grin, the possibilities are endless. IF YOU READ THE ROLLING STONE 5SOS ARTICLE YOU'LL GET THIS LMAO)
"don't let your ego get to you, hemmings." I said playfully.
"shit, it's 11. we gotta leave so we can be barricade! I want josh dun to sweat on me." luke said, looking at his watch. he grabbed his car keys and my hand and led me out the door.
"put twenty one pilots on shuffle. we gotta get in the mood." he said once we were driving.
I hadn't listened to them in awhile. the last time I had was when I was with luke. listening to them always reminded me of him.
we stopped at wendy's for some lunch before heading to the venue.
"shit, I'm so excited. what if we meet them after the show? oh god, I would pee myself." luke said and I laughed.
we pulled into the venue parking lot and a line was already forming outside.
"there aren't that many people here. hopefully, we'll be towards the front. I want your first concert to be the best experience of your life." luke said with a grin.
-
6 hours later, the concert is about to start
"winnie! can you believe it?! we're about to see my favorite band front row with my favorite girl." of course he had to be cheesy, making me blush.
"will you hold me when the crowd gets too intense, or when I cry because they perform all the sad songs?" I asked and he nodded.
"oh my god, what if we meet them? seriously, I would die." luke said and I smiled.
not even ten seconds later, the lights went out and the crowd was absolutely insane. luke's grip on me tightened and the beats from heavydirtysoul filled the room and my adrenaline rushed.
throughout the show, we jumped, danced, and yes, I did cry. I think luke did, too. during trees, the encore song, josh's drum kit was lowered into the crowd (if you've seen top live then you know what I mean). in that moment, there was a certain sparkle in luke's blue ocean eyes that I hadn't seen before. it was an impulse decision I'm sure, but I kissed him. he was shocked but kissed me back. I felt his lips form a smile. at that show, I felt alive.
after the show was over, we rushed outside in an attempt to find the tour bus.
"holy shit! it's right there!" luke exclaimed, pulling my arm.
a huge line of fans formed behind us and we made a few friends in line. the eardrum bursting noise of teenage girls screaming erupted from behind us and next thing we knew, josh and tyler were standing right in front of us. luke was so shocked that he couldn't speak.
"hi, oh my god. I love you. sorry, that's weird. you're a huge inspiration. okay, I'm rambling now. can we have a photo?" luke said nervously. they both laughed and I took the picture.
"this was my first concert. you guys were fantastic. it's also my 18th birthday." I said and they looked at each other.
"guess that means we should sing happy birthday." tyler said and then started singing. the fans around us started singing, too. I can check this off my bucket list: having tyler joseph sing happy birthday to me.
-
"I can't believe we met them. the boys are gonna be so jealous." luke said as we were driving home.
"this is definitely the best birthday I've ever had. I love you." those last three words just slipped out.
"I love you. I'd do anything for you."
-
just realized that this is the 21st chapter and they're going to a twenty one pilots concert LOL the coincidence.
i'm back! hope you guys had a good christmas or just a good holiday in case you don't celebrate.
love you guys. xx
