The walk the gym was shorter than Lilley could imagine. All she had to do was exit the building they were currently in, and the gym is just a few rose bushes away. A small green field separating the two, the word 'GYMNASIUM' written in bold font on the building.
Anyone could easily find it if they just look out the window.
As they walked over to the building, Lilley couldn't help but grimaced at the stares of the few students that were outside.
William pulled the door open for her, and as she walked the, she was greeted with another round of stares from the people that were close to the door.
"You'll be okay on your own?" She heard William ask beside her. She flinched at first before turning her attention to him with a small smile.
She nodded. "Yeah. I'll be meeting up with someone anyway."
She noticed a slight shift in his expression before it was masked off. He smiled.
"Alright then. Enjoy."
She thanked him as he walked off. Her eyes lingered the way he left. She could still somehow perceive his perfume despite him being gone.
She was snapped back to reality when she heard some whispers.
"Who is she?"
"Why did she and William walk in together?"
"What's going on between them?"
"Oh~ someone won't be happy when they hear this~"
She shook her head and tried to block out all the whispers mentally. Her eyes scanned the room filled students for a certain blonde or pink her guy.
As she blinked, it was like her vision suddenly cleared. She suddenly saw different hair colours of the students. He blinked a few times as she felt her sight blur and her head light.
She had seen a few different hair colours, but only when she focused on one person. But now, all of a sudden, she sees different hair colours at the same time, and for some unknown reason to her, it feels like her eyes can't take it.
She faltered a bit until a hand caught her. She flinched at the touch and turned to see who it was. Her eyes widened upon seeing green hair.
"Jayden?" She mumbled, but the guy tilted his head a bit with an awkward smile.
"Uh, no... are you okay?"
She blinked again and saw that this guy hair was a darker shade of green. She immediately stepped back and apologised.
"I'm so sorry!"
"No, no," he reassured. "It's okay."
He gave her a little head bow and walked away.
Lilley stood still, wondering what had just occurred. She glanced 'round the hall but it was still the same; she saw different hair colours all over.
She steadily walked over to the bleachers and found a place to sit; still dazed. She couldn't explain what just happened, and she had no one to ask.
Even if she did ask, who could give her a proper answer. For all they know, she is from their world; Wave City.
She stared 'round the gym and saw different tables set up with banners above them. On the banners, some were written, book club, debate club, math club, etc.
Her eyes dulled a bit. She had once been in the debate club but only joined because her friend was in it and later changed the next term. Her interests were rather short-lived to her dismay.
Not like I had much interest in much. She let out a breath.
Her eyes lit up a bit as she saw the music club. A club she had particularly had a special fond of. She wasn't a music fanatic , nor did she think she was good at music, but it was a nice distraction.
Distraction... she stared at the poster, dazed.
She snapped out of it and continued to search visually for any other clubs she might be interested in. Then, to her left, over at the far end of the gym, right in between the photography and art club, sat the volleyball club.
Her eyes lit up again. It was one of her interests that had never been short-lived. A small smile formed on her lips as she stood. She kept her eyes on the club table as she walked until someone bumped into her.
Oh, come on! She complained internally and turned to the person. The guy wore a face cap that made it hard to see his face. He didn't apologise- he didn't even say anything. He just stood, staring at her.
She gave him a weird look and was about to walk away when she heard him say the word 'beautiful'.
She turned back at him with a questioning look.
He looked down... or was he looking at her? She couldn't tell from the way he positioned his head.
"Pardon?"
Suddenly, he just turned and walked away.
Weird. She thought.
"Lilley?"
Her eyes lit up at that familiar voice. She turned with a smile.
"There you are,"
"Where were you guys?" She asked.
"At the photography club," Nicky paused. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, um... yeah, why?"
"...Nothing," he smiled a bit. "Where were you headed?"
"Oh, I saw the volleyball club booth..." she slowly paused as she saw the confused look on Nicky's face.
"In here?"
She nodded slowly.
He looked 'round, then back at her. "All sports booths are outside," he said slowly.
She blinked.
"But- it's just right there-" she pointed at where she saw the booth.
Nicky looked over at where she pointed and then back at her. They walked closer to where the booth was, and Lilley stopped in her tracks. Where she thought the volleyball club was placed was actually the dance club.
She first cold sweat at the back of her neck.
"What the heck, Lilley?" She muttered to herself in shock. "How did you misread this?"
She ran her hands down her face. "What is up with you today?"
"Hey, it's okay," Nicky said beside her, trying to reassure her. "Maybe you're just tired,"
But Lilley was sure it was more than that. She couldn't just explain why. Was it the effect of coming into another world? Did others feel the same way? Are there even others? Apart from her and the bus driver.
She cleared her eyes and forced a smile, though it came out lumpy. "Yeah, maybe,"
Maybe I'm getting delusional. Great Lilley, upon everything else, you are also delusional.
