A Duo's Affair (Part 2)

Previously on Yu-Gi-Oh! Synergy: As the Holders prepare to finally confront Wally, Railo is held back by his emotions. Dante and Winona decide to get a head start, only to be sealed in within the temple. While they patiently wait, they are confronted by a pair of Shadow Hunters who are ready to eliminate them as per the orders of Lustros. The duo challenges Dante and Winona to a tag duel, and Winona is reunited with a person from her past - her former best friend, Asuka. As their duel progresses, Asuka's partner, Blake, reveals that he is responsible for his and Asuka's death. Furthermore, he reveals his objective, which is to help defeat the Holders so that he and Asuka may return to Earth and live a happier life.

"Mommy, how come all the other kids at my school have a daddy?" asks a little boy.

"We can't always have what other people have, honey", says the boy's mother. "We have to look at what we have and value it."

"But that's not fair", the little boy says. "I want a daddy too."

(End Flashback)

'It isn't possible for them to understand what I have been through' Wally thinks to himself. 'However, loneliness is something I have had since I was a child. It tore me apart. But now.. loneliness is my secret weapon. It's what prevents me from falling into the lies of people who pretend to be there for you. Who needs friends? All I need is myself. And with the power I have, I'm going to make Kiram pay for what he did to me.'

"Hey Wallace", says Triton. "I'm sick and tired of sitting here listening to your nonsense."

"Explain to me why I should even begin to care", responds Wally.

"Why don't you man up", Triton counters. "Let's duel. I'll be more than happy to finish you off again like how I did back at Seaside."

"Those are some brave words", says Wally, "especially coming from someone who couldn't even protect their friend. Don't forget that I can easily dispose of you right now, but you will serve me some use later. So for now, let's just keep things at peace."

Back inside the temple, the duel between the Holders and the Shadow Hunters continues.

"So, I'm here because of you?" Asuka asks Blake.

"Yes. It was my family's lies that led me to a dark path", Blake responds. "But now.. we have an opportunity to return back to our happy lives."

"That's assuming you can win this duel", Dante comments.

"Oh we will win this duel", Blake responds. "So make your move earth girl."

'So many lives have been ruined' Winona thinks to herself. 'For how much longer is this insanity going to continue?'

"Win, you okay there?" Dante asks.

"If you ask me, it looks like she's already doubting herself", Blake intercepts.

"Either that or the tenacity she expressed during my last turn was just an act", Asuka follows.

"No", says Winona, "I'm fine. So it's my turn I guess."

Winona conducts her Draw Phase, slowly picking up her new card.

"I end my turn", Winona says as she stares at the ground beneath her.

Dante is astonished by Winona's sudden change in behavior.

"Winona, what the hell?!" Dante exclaims.

"She's finally using that brain of hers", Blake comments. "Why in fact, that's the wisest thing she has done during the entire duel."
