Sunlight hit me in the face
I blinked once and tried to roll onto my side, but as I found out, my options were limited.
My arm was pinned under a pillow, and felt unusually warm. The blanket had staged a hostile takeover of the couch and apparently decided my torso was prime real estate.
Wait... is this like those terrible GIFs where everything stretches and you can still hear that stupid music.
Because, I literally can't move.
Yeah... don't even think about how you somehow ended up right next to her. Seriously, why did the movies become reality, like why does this always happen?
She was asleep, but one of her eyelid were fluttering. A strand of hair had escaped whatever sternness she usually exhibited and fanned across her forehead. It looked ridiculous and lovely and absolutely not something I should be noticing while simultaneously pretending this wasn't happening.
She shifted and hugged the blanket tighter. "F**k this... stupid snow... and your stupid... warm... body..."
What?! How's she half-conscious even when she's clearly sleeping?
How do I even get out of this situation peacefully?
Hmm... upon a 0.1% further analysis, I find three options.
Either I extricate my arm and scoot away very slowly. I risk an elbow-on-nose collision which doesn't have good implications. Or, just do nothing.
Turns out, I chose to do nothing because my survival instincts were apparently on sabbatical. I lay there like that, thinking about as you guessed, nothing!
She let out a sigh, and turned over to face me.
Then her eyelids flickered open.
For a second there was nothing - no expression, just a horizontal void line. Then she blinked fully and, with the exact cadence of someone who'd been practicing indifference since birth, said, "You look like you slept badly."
"Morning,"
"What's for breakfast?"
...
"I don't know,"
And with that, the morning had officially begun.
I never really noticed, but I kind of do now. It was quite snowy outside. Damn, this city looks even better in the snow.
"I never thought snow would be that good. I mean, when I last saw it close, I had to save an empire with my friends. One of them became an ice kind, and-"
"And the president walked in and everybody clapped!"
"It was real!"
"Yes, it was... and Justin's gonna leave today,"
"Right... wanna go for a walk,"
"Doesn't sound like the worst option,"
...
Walking was quiet, and yeah, the park was still pretty cool.
"So, what's their final plan?"
"Dunno,"
"How's life going?"
"Dunno,"
"Wanna watch a movie?"
"Dunno,"
"When are you gonna leave The Vipers?"
