Part 48 - Stubborn, like me

The inside was surprisingly not so bad.

There were furnished chairs and a basement, where my quarters was. It looked pretty good, a TV where I could hook up my console with a king-sized bed. The perfect place for if you wanted to relax off somewhere.

Yeah, the "relax" part is a little nuanced because of Deathstroke and this entire final fight thing, but this is a great spot to chill out for sure.

I sat on the sofa and let out a yawn. Sleep should be considered my utmost priority as of this moment. It's hard to believe I didn't sleep in the flight, but now I felt the consequences of staring at a screen for 15 hours straight.

I hopped on the couch and was about to sleep, until someone had the audacity to knock on this door. Seriously, an annoying moment have to come at a time like this? Ugh, can't I get a break for a little bit?

At this point, someone might tell me to suck it up and quit complaining, to get stuff done, but I am getting stuff done. I just complain why I do it... nothing wrong with being a complainer. There's a huge difference between a complainer that gets stuff done and a quitter. And in a way, I don't have to bottle my feelings up like that.

If I'm mad, I'm mad. If I'm sad, I'm sad. If I'm happy, I'm happy. If I feel annoyed by someone knocking on my door right when I am about to get a great sleep, then I'm  annoyed by someone knocking on my door right when I am about to get a great sleep.

I let out a sigh and walked forward, opening the door. "Seriously, now?"

It was The Swordsman. "Is this not a good time?"

"W-wait, no! My bad, it's just that I didn't get much sleep on the plane! I know I was watching movies, and part of its my bad, but I just wanted to sleep! I mean, you can still talk, then I sleep, so..."

"It's ok," The Swordsman cut in. "You should get some rest,"

"No, I insist!" I said. "Part of being a ninja was getting used to these types of situations! If there were opportunities, sleeping in would be a problem! You can't catch worms if you're not an early bird!"

 "Okay then..."

He got in the room and we sat down on the dining table as I turned on the lights. He put down a file on the desk and opened it for me to see.

The file showed a very wide building in just as snowy area, surrounded by forests. It looks like a very isolated area, but what caught my eye was this massive looking white vessel right behind that building.

"This is their base," The Swordsman revealed. "Behind it is the most powerful nuclear plant in the world. As you know, Deathstroke's dimension generator is right there. Our goal is to deactivate it before he enters and fight him to the death,"

"Sounds good..."

I hesitated there... I wanted to tell him that I wanted to see my parents again, but I have a feeling that he won't like what I have to say. There's a huge probability we won't be defeating Deathstroke in this fight, so he'll want me to stay for the future.

But, I have to go back and learn about who my biological mom was. I have to see my adoptive parents' faces again, I have to see Fugidove at least once as I promised him that night in the prison cell.

"Hey! You there?"

"Huh - my bad!"

I'll worry about that later; for now, I need to focus on what's at hand.

"Yeah, sorry. Go on,"

"The Vipers' base is about a 5 hour drive from here. It's obviously in a very isolated and private area, so we'll need to be able to move carefully. We'll be moving somewhere else in 3 days, yes? Everyone else is arriving today, including people from the military as well, on top of the CIA. Our goal is to contain and secure the nuke. But that's all."
