If Leon vs. Alain, or the Tournament in the anime is not your cup of tea, why not read another version of the Masters 8?
The story continues from Pokemon Journeys episode 109, with a brand new bracket from the anime. Ash has finally entered the Mast...
"Ash vs Red. 3 on 3 battle," Delia raised her hand, "Let it begin!"
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Both Ash and Red commanded at the same time.

The two Pikachus arched their backs, their bright red cheeks sparking with violent intensity before two massive pillars of golden electricity tore through the atmosphere. The bolts met between the pokemon and came to a stalemate. Both Pikachus knew it was just a move to "greet" each other, and none of them had used their full strength in this move.
*BOOOOM*
The explosion sent a small plume of white smoke into the sky. Ash had to shield his eyes from the blinding smoke and glare, but Red was completely unfazed by the impact.
"Pikachu, use Quick Attack now!" Ash shouted. His voice was full of fire and determination to defeat his dad.
Ash's Pikachu didn't wait for the smoke to clear. His body became a blur of white light as he zig-zagged towards Red's Pikachu at lightning speed. To any normal trainer, it would have been impossible to track.
But Red was not a normal trainer. He stood perfectly still, his hat shadowed over his eyes, carefully observing the patterns and movements of his opponent, and designing the strategies in his head to win against his son.
"Intercept with Quick Attack," Red commanded calmly. He needed more data before knowing what moves his Pikachu should use, and how and when they should be used, in order to gain the upper hand in the mirror match.
Red's Pikachu obeyed his master's command, and mirrored Ash's Pikachu's move with ease. But unlike Ash's Pikachu, it didn't run in a zig-zag pattern. It ran head on to meet Ash's Pikachu.
*BOOM*
The two collided with a sickening thud, a physical impact that sounded like two stones being smashed together. They bounced off one another, doing acrobatic moves in the air before landing on the ground gracefully.
"Iron Tail, let's go!" Ash yelled.
Ash's Pikachu jumped up again and front-flipped, his tail glowing with a brilliant, metallic silver light. He swung the hardened tail downward like a heavy mace, aiming to crush Red's Pikachu into the ground.
"Thunder Punch," Red countered.
Red's Pikachu held its right arm by its waist. Its right paw crackled with a swirling vortex of high-voltage electricity. It stood still and observed Ash's Pikachu, not in a hurry to counter.
"Chu...pika!" Ash's Pikachu slammed his 'metallic' tail downward, just to see Red's Pikachu stepped to the left and easily avoided the hit.
*BOOM*
The Iron Tail crashed to the ground violently, creating a heavy dent at the point of impact, and cracking the ground nearby. Having dodged the Iron Tail, Red's Pikachu was unharmed. Using Thunder Punch, it twisted its body and punched Ash's Pikachu's stomach with its right paw.
