It's getting closer to November and I'm getting excited to seeing my best friend again.
I don't know what's been going on but my feelings for Paul is even more obvious to certain people.
It was lunch time and I'm sitting at the table with my friends. My section leader looks over my phone.
"Oh who's that" I was texting Paul back and he had a shirtless picture as his profile picture.
"That's Paul"
"Oh let me see" this girl tried to snatch the phone out my hand. I grabbed my phone back and told her to chill out.
"I just wanted to see the picture"
"Why? Cause he shirtless"
"Yes"
"Then no" I told her. Call it salty, or whatever, I'm not comfortable with her or anybody else admiring him.
"Fine I'll just text him on my phone" I looked at her like she was crazy.
"No you're not doing that either, you'll be fine without seeing him shirtless."
Everybody at the table was laughing at how defensive I was getting.
Later on that day my section leader did text Paul, and told him how defensive I was getting.
When I found out she text him I decided to go ahead and text him before he asked me about it, I wanted to explain myself.
I told him what happened.
Paul: why are you getting defensive though?
Shanice: idk
Paul: really Shanice
Shanice: yup
Paul: omg
Paul: Shanice
Paul: do you like me?
Oh my gosh I did not expect him to ask that, shit I did make it obvious with the whole defensive thing but how the fuck do I answer that.
Jhanae came to pick me up and I showed her the conversation.
"Tell him the truth Shanice"
I replied.
Shanice: idk honestly
Paul: don't lieeee to meeee
I took a deep breath and opened up the message to reply to him
Shanice: yes
After I admitted to liking him I put our conversation on mute because I was so scared to even admit it, this was so awkward to me. I muted the conversation for an hour, just so I can take in what just happened.
"I'm proud you actually told him" Jhanae admitted.
"Yea shit going to become awkward."
"Only if you make it awkward."
I nodded.
An hour later, the notification popped up and I decided to open it
Paul: I knew it... Why didn't you tell meee
Shanice: I just thought it wasn't important to say
Paul: 😕
Paul: so when did you start liking me.
Shanice: a couple months ago
Paul: hmm.
My phone vibrated and I seen a text from Jason telling me to call him. I told him to hold on a second.
