8. Bestfriend

While everybody is at school, I have no plans but to just sit here at home and do very little.

Jhanae came into my room and dropped her body on my bed making my Phone and remote do back flips on the sheets.

"So what was wrong with you yesterday? Did Paul hit you? Y'all had an argument? What was it?"

"Why does it have to be Paul?"

"Cause I know"

"I was just tired nothing serious"

"I think you're lying when was the last time y'all talked" She said grabbing my phone without permission. She looked through it and seen our last convo was early this morning

"Aww that's a cute good morning text"

"Shut up so do you have anything else to ask me?"

"Hold on" She said as she was on her phone. There was complete silence in the room for about 5 minutes.

"Ok Shanice I have confirmed that something happened between you and Paul because I just text him and asked"

"Omg Jhanae why would you do that I said we good"

"Are you going to stick with that story?"

"Yes"

"Ok I believe you because he said nothing too"

"See I told you now get out my room" I said slapping her in the face with a pillow

"Just for that I'm staying right here" before I can say anything my phone started ringing. I answered without checking to see who was calling.

"Hey beautiful" I instantly regretted answering the phone that second

"What do you want Raymond?"

"I just wanted to see how you doing"

"Bye"

"Wait Sha don't hang up I wanted to ask you a serious question"

"What?"

"So I heard you have a new man now is that true"

"Really? Where tf did you hear that from?"

"Somebody"

"No I don't bye"

"Why you lying"

"I'm dead ass."

"So who was that boy you was kissing yesterday" My mouth fell open as I was shocked by what he said. Jhanae closed my mouth and moved closer so she can hear the other line.

"Yea can't say nothing now can you?"

"Wait hold up how tf do you know some shit like that when you're all the way up north and why does it matter I don't belong to you"

"Did you forget I'm known and since you was my girl you're known around the neighborhood. Did you forget we went a lot of places together."

"Ok you still haven't answered my question why does it matter"

"Cause I want to know"

"So you can try to research about him? No"

"I'm not going to research about anybody I just want to know if that's your man or not cause word of advice if he not you in some deep shit"

"How?"

"Not only that I feel bad for him cause he ain't going to get no love with your difficult ass"

"First off that's not my dude second of all you shouldn't be talking"

"Shanice its only a matter of time before he and the other niggas you plan on talking to do the same shit I did. If he's not your nigga then what is he? Just a friend? Remember what a friend did to you 4 years ago? The same shit I did, rape your ass"

"Are you serious? You really going to put people you don't even know in the same category as you. Not everybody is like you Raymond"

"I mean if you're ass wasn't so difficult throughout our relationship things wouldn't be where they at now it could've been better."

"Raymond you really got a mouth you calling me difficult---"

"Cause you are" he said cutting me off.

"Naw let me finish I know I'm difficult but who was the person that settled for less? You are. Not once did you complain about the shit I did and not once did you try to change anything meaning you settled for less don't start complaining about that shit now. If you felt like I was to shy you could've done something to change it but did you? No you did not. Don't come for my best friend either he's nothing like you and will never do some stupid shit that you did. What I do now is none of your business and whoever told you about that shit need to go suck a dick and mind their own business. You got some nerve get off my line and don't ever call me again."

I hung up in his face and he ended up texting me 'its only a matter of time before he does the same shit'

I ignored it and looked at Jhanae

"Wow I'm proud of you Shanice"

"Why?"

"What he said are not some easy words to accept. If I was in your situation I would've been balling my eyes out right now, those are some hurtful words. I know it takes you a million years to cry though but I know them words still cut you deep come on" She said opening her arms out for a hug. I gave her a quick hug and we changed the subject in a mater of seconds.

I recently just permed my hair and I was loving the new length my hair grew a lot over the year. I took a picture and decided to send it to Paul. We haven't talked since that day but I'm not trying to make things more awkward as it is, I mean we're still cool with each other.

He text back complimenting me on my hair and I basically ended the conversation by saying yea. Well I thought that was the end of the conversation.

Texting convo:

Him: Be honest that day I had kiss you why didn't you?

I really was trying to avoid this question.

Me: Honestly I was shy and scared.

Him: Why didn't you trust me?

Me: I never said I didn't

Him: I kept telling you to relax and trust me

Me: I know but I was idk shy I guess

Him: hmmm

Me: Yea

I was glad the subject ended that quick after that the subject was changed and we were officially back to normal no awkwardness.

I kept thinking about what Raymond said yesterday and I laughed at how wrong he was.

I'm proud to have a BestFriend like.Paul. I'm happy to have met him, he's really cool and I like how I can talk to him about anything. I don't talk much as it is, but the stuff I shared with him that I usually don't say means something about him.  Paul is only 7 months older then me and a grade level higher meaning he's going to graduate soon I'm going to miss him but I rather not think about it I rather just enjoy the good times I have with him now.
