"Osamu? Hey, hey, look at me. You're okay, Samu."

There were so many machines beeping. Too many people talking at once. And it was like he couldn't move his body at all. He didn't even know where he was-

"Samu, please. Just try to calm down.

It took a minute, but Osamu managed to calm his breathing. A bit, at least. It took even longer for him to register where he was.

"Tsumu?"

His twin smiled sadly and fluffed Osamu's hair. "There ya go. You scared us for a second, ya know."

Osamu frowned at his brother. "What happened?"

"Umm..." Atsumu looked nervously around the room. "You don't remember, like, at all?"

He tried, he really did. But if he was being honest with himself, he didn't even know what day it was. The only thing Osamu could do was shake his head.

"That's okay. Umm, kind of a lot happened, though. Do you... Remember our birthday?"

Osamu bit his lip. He knew that Atsumu had waken him up ridiculously early, and...

"We went to the beach?"

Atsumu sighed. And he looked so, so relieved.  "Yeah, that's right. So basically, we got home at around midnight. You were definitely looking pale, but said you felt fine so we just went to bed." He paused and wiped at his eyes.

"Later that night," he continued," I randomly- thankfully- woke up and found you. You were in the kitchen. I don't know why, or for how long, but you... "Atsumu took a deep breath. "You looked dead. It looked like you had fallen: your knee was busted up real bad, your leg was clearly broken, and it looked like you had been grabbing at your neck or something. Your hand was by it, and there were bruises. So we brought you here."

Osamu took a deep breath. The more he thought about it, the more he remembered it. Or, some of it. The feeling that he couldn't breathe, the panic.

"How long?" Osamu couldn't see himself, but he wouldn't sworn that his brother looked just as bad as him.

"A few days. You've been in and out, but you never remembered anything. This is the most you that you've been."

Osamu watched as Atsumu wiped tears from his face. But still, he kept up that stupid, nonchalant smile.

"Tsumu, I'm fine now."

"But you're not. Your cancer is spreading, Samu. Up your spine. Mom and dad haven't stopped trying to come up with a plan with the doctorss, and-"

"Atsumu." Osamu sat up enough that he could grab his twin's hand. "I'm not going anywhere- ya can't get rid of me that easily."

Atsumu laughed. "Yeah, I guess that would be too easy, wouldn't it?" He relaxed a bit after that, which of course helped Osamu calm down too. "Really though, how are you feeling?"

"All things considered?" Osamu shrugged, then winced. "Everything just kinda hurts, but more than anything I'm just tired."

"I get that... So would a visit from the team be too overwhelming, or just what you need?"

Osamu thought for a second. "Would they bring snacks?"

The other twin just rolled his eyes. "You nearly die, wake up for the first time in days, and the first thing you think about it food?"

Osamu just grinned at his brother.

"Of course there will be snacks, ya idiot."

"Then please, for the love of everything, get them over here."

"Oh, there you are."

Atsumu lifted his head to find Kita frowning down at him. "You made it. I bet Osamu is glad."

"Yeah, he is. Suna and Aran are in with him now." Kita slid down the wall next to Atsumu. "So do you wanna tell me what's up with you?"

"I'm fine."

"Haven't you ever been told its bad to lie to your elders?"

He couldn't hold it in anymore. Atsumu burst into tears, his sobs rocking through his body so hard that it ached. "I thought he was dead, Kita. He... He looked like he was, and-" He paused, trying to catch his breath.

The captain put his arm around Atsumu and pulled him closer. "I know, kid, I know. He's okay now. I was just in with him, and he looks remarkably good all things considered."

"I know, and I'm glad, but," Atsumu sniffed. "It's spreading, and he's sick all of the time now, and I feel terrible because..."

"Because?"

"I'm tired. And I know its nothing compared to how he feels, but... Taking care of him isn't always the easiest."

Kita smiled sympathetically. "You're allowed to be tired too, you know. Your twin, your best friend, is sick, and you are constantly doing anything and everything for him. If you need a break, it's okay to take one."

"Ya think?" Atsumu sniffed again and wiped at his eyes.

"Definitely. I understand how tired both you and your parents must be. The whole team does. And we're all here to help whenever you need it."

"Thank you."

"Anytime." Kita stood up and offered his hand to Atsumu. "Now how about we go see dear Osamu? He said he wanted to see you, ya know."

"Yeah, that sounds nice."
