Just when everyone thought that Osamu would be able to finally get back to living a normal life, the doctors ran a final check on him. Based on his symptoms, everyone was thinking that the chemo was finally working.

Of course, everyone was wrong. The cancer had disappeared from his legs, and his bones were looking good. And yet another tumor had popped up on his spine. Now he was waiting for a nurse to come and wheel him into surgery.

Osamu sniffled when his brother squeezed his hand. "I'm scared, Tsumu."

"I know, Samu, I know. But you're gonna be fine. The surgeon told mom and dad that it's the best size and in the best place for an easy removal."

"I guess," Osamu sighed.

The two were quiet for a few minutes. Atsumu had absolutely no idea what to say to his brother, couldn't think of any way to encourage him or cheer him up. He watched as Osamu took a deep breath.

"Y'know, I can't stop thinking about how easily something could go wrong." He took another breath. "What if, after everything, I don't sur-"

"Stop it."

Osamu flinched, and Atsumu felt the smallest bit of regret. No matter how bad the twins had fought, neither of them had ever used such a harsh tone with the other.

The regret quickly faded when he saw the complete defeat on Osamu's face.

"You're gonna be fine, Samu. I mean do you really think I would just let you go like that? You are stuck with me until we are at least a hundred and two, ya got that?"

"Yeah, I get it." Osamu smiled for just a moment before covering his face. He was trying to hide it, but Atsumu could still see the tears streaking down his face.

Ah, screw it.

Atsumu motioned for his twin to scoot over in his bed before getting in next to him. And then, he gave Osamu what was probably the tightest hug he had ever given anyone.

Osamu stopped crying and returned the hug with as much force as he could, which wasn't much. But it was enough that it gave Atsumu hope.

"Thank you, Tsumu."

"You know I'd do anything for you, Samu. I'll be waiting for you, okay?"

He got out of the bed but still kept a hold of  his brother's hand as a nurse came in to the room.

"Alright Osamu, it's time."
