CHAPTER FIFTEEN:

The next time I opened my eyes, I was no longer at home. Instead, I was facing a grey painted brick wall, in the center was a metal door with a small, square window. My memory was too hazy, making it harder for me to remember how I had gotten here. However, I soon noticed that I wasn't exactly here.

The metal door creaked open and the body I occupied jerked forward, as if urging to harm the person who just walked in. It was too hard of a jerk, causing pain to the wrists that were bound in silver chains.

"I wouldn't move if I were you," A familiar voice spoke. "That's pure silver, and like the legends say, it's highly dangerous to your kind."

My kind? I wondered. The only kind that silver could cause harm to would be . . . werewolves.

"I've got to say though, Alex," They spoke again. It was feminine. "It was hard getting you here. Your wolf put up a good fight. You must really like her since you shifted so quickly."

"Where is she?" I heard Alex's voice.

"Hailey? Oh, she's fine for now." The voice explained. "She's turning as we speak."

The body jerked again, a low growl rumbling in the pit of its stomach.

"Why?" Was all Alex could say. He sounded weak, tired even. Had they drugged him?

"It was going to happen sooner or later Alex."

  "No, not now,"

A hand caressed my cheek. It was so cold and trembled slightly. Then, it pulled away quickly.

"You're very clever Alex, you know that?"

"W-What?"

"You're closer to your mate than I thought," She said.

"W-What are you talking about?"

I could feel panic rising as the chains were being undone. My body fell to the ground, everything too numb to even move. That gave her the opportunity to send a kick straight into my gut. Instinctively, my defense was to curl into a ball to ease the pain but another blow came just before I could.

"Kicking a man when he's down," Blood was spat out as I heard a chuckle come from Alex. "Classic."

"I'm just testing out a theory, that's all." She replied.

"Theory? For what? Whether or not you can break ribs in a single kick because I'm sure you've got two." Alex wheezed.

"Not exactly," She inched closer. "It's to see whether or not your mate is as linked to you as she appears."

My body chilled. What did she mean by that? Were Alex and I connected physically as well? Perhaps . . . this was his body and I was witnessing his torture first hand. Was this a consequence of being mates? I had the ability to co-posses his body?

"Has it clicked yet?" She asks. "Whatever I do to you this very moment, she will feel."

Alex was quick to reach out for her neck but something caused him to stop mid reach. His arm fell limp to the floor, his body becoming clad in a cold sweat.

"You're sick," Was all he could say as she laughed.

"Sick?" She questioned. "Wait until you see what else I have in stored for her."

"Leave her out of this!" Alex growled.

"It still hasn't clicked yet," She says, disappointed as she exits the room.

Alone now, Alex manages to push himself up against the wall. He examines his wrists that were burned from the silver. It would be a while probably, but the burns would heal nicely if he isn't chained up again.

"Hailey," He whimpers. "I'm so sorry."
