Chapter 2: Shepherds(3)

"UGGGGGHHH!"

I heard Lissa cry from behind, "I can't walk anymore....Chrom are we there yet?!"I look back to see her hunched over and limping, she silently muttered to herself. "Shall I carry you milady? I've no problem in carrying you." Frederick answered calmly. I still baffled how he's able to walk around fully suited in armor. "Oh please do! My feet are ACHING."

"There's no need for that Frederick, We're here."

I looked up at Chrom's announcement. It was just a big, grassy open field...but something doesn't feel right here. I looked around only to see the long strands of the Earth's green hairs blowing gracefully in the wind...how peaceful.

"GUUUUYS! Wait up!!"

Huh...? I heard a male's voice from behind and from the sounds of it, he was pretty exhausted. I turned around to see a person dressed in light green armor. His brown and abnormal-sized cowlick bounced with each step he took. "How could you guys leave without me?! I never got a notice!"

"Oh Stahl, we were wonderin' where you were. What took ya so long?" The Vaike stepped up to greet him.

"I was rushing to catch up with you guys! I had to miss breakfast...by the way who's the newbie?"

I felt Chrom's hand hit my shoulder, "This is Robin, our new tactician! And Robin this is one of our army's cavaliers, Stahl." I turned towards him him and nodded as a way to greet him as he nodded back. I continued to survey the area when something caught my eye. I saw a small dark figure in the distance, it looked as though it was...limping? As I squinted my eyes more I spotted several other figures. "Chrom. It appears the monsters we've encounter are back..."

"Dammit...the Risen have spread this far?"

Lissa tilted her head in confusion, "Risen?"

"The conference that was held decided that the ungodly creatures needed to be identified, and so we deemed them to be Risen. Those who are new to this enemy be wary...These things are stronger than they look." Frederick provided us some statistics on our upcoming fight.

I assumed one of the Risen noticed us since I heard one let out a bloodcurdling cry from the distance.

"Shepherds! Ready your weapons!" Chrom ordered. I readied my tome and sword, I won't let and of these dastards hurt my friends...!

"W-Wait!! Where's my axe?! Where's my axe?!!" I saw Vaike prance around nervously, looking for his lost weapon. "Vaike, how could you forget your axe when you were briefed for a combat mission?!" The angered Ylissian prince asked. "Nevermind him, Vaike stay towards the rear, Lissa stay nearby to help any of teams in need but not to close for you to get noticed, Frederick and Virion you'll sabotage the left flank while Chrom and I will handle the center. That leaves Stahl and Sully to handle the right. Does everyone understand?" I directed.

Chrom and I quickly blew through the grassy terrain as we quickly advanced upon our undead foes. We quickly glanced at each other and nodded as we already knew what our battle plan was. I quickly stopped as Chrom glided past me, I held my hand in front of me, took a deep breath, and closed my eyes. "Wind." I breathed and gradually felt the soft breeze turn into a violent gust engulfing the enemies and clumping them together. Chrom begun to dash faster as his grip on his sword tightened. With one quick slash, he decimated all of the Risen leaving fallen limbs and a cloud of purple-black dust.

"Chrom! Behind you!!" I yelled.

An abnormally-sized Risen that must've crept over from the left flank readied his axe to kill Chrom at any devastating moment. "Wh-what the...when did he-?!" The baffled prince was to confused to react, as for the Risen, it swung without hesitation.

"HUUUAAAAYAAH!!" I quickly stabbed the Risen in the back as it's purple-black dust spewed in my face as I slide the sword upward easily slicing it in half. "Are you unharmed?" I asked with a hint of a smile dancing on my lips. "Yes, thanks Robin!" He smiles, "Let's press on shall we?"

Miriel's PoV

Absolutely disgusting. I will and shall find the ignorant mongrel that abandoned his weapon which from my calculations is causing an astronomical amount of inconvenience for our party. I picked up the barbarian's axe and continued my trail towards the commotion which was not that far of a distance. "Vaike!" I called out to the ignoramus. "M-Miriel?! Miriel you have my axe! Thank you so much!" He replied to me. I handed him his weapon with a glare, "I do wish you'd be more aware of your surroundings next time..." I saw in swallow down a lump in his throat and nod. I looked upon the battle field a see which team need more of my assistance. 'One side with one melee fighter and one ranged while the other with two...I see.' 

"Vaike, do you see Frederick and Virion?"

"Yeah?"

"Go join them and make there fight power equal."

"Ok!"

As Vaike scurried over to assist Frederick and Virion, I made my way over to assist Stahl and Sully who seemed to be having trouble with the bow-wielding Risen.

"Fire!!" I yelled as I incinerated the distance foes. "Oi, Sully! Are you alright?!"

"Get your damn man hands off of me...I'm fine!"

I look over to see Sully's abdomen pierced by an arrow. She was cradled by Stahl though she was losing blood, fast. I frantically waved over Lissa as she ran over as quickly as she could.

"Gods! Are you alright Sully?! Don't worry I'll fix you up..." I watched as she carefully pulled out the bow. Sully groaned in pain and Lissa's stave started to glow as she slowly began to heal her.
