Chapter 4: Two Falchions(2)

The air was frigid and dry. Only our sickly sniffles and the heavy horse gallops dragging the old and dusty carriage filled the air. I looked out the window absentmindedly only to see endless mountains of snow. I looked back at my book to see if I could get better at my tactical skills.

"H-hey....R-Robin?" I heard Lissa's shaky voice from the opposite end of my seat. I looked over and nodded quietly. "I'm r-r-reaaaally cold!" She pouted and made a puppy dog face. I chuckled to myself and gestured for her to come over. The freezing princess quickly scooted over to me while causing the cushions in the seat to grumble as she made her way towards me. I lifted up the side of my coat and pulled it over her as I softly dragged her over to me more. "Better?" I asked while going back to my book. Lissa happily snuggled her face in my chest and smiled, "Better!"

Stahl's PoV

I quietly sighed as I saw Lissa and Robin cuddling like some giddy ol' couple. 'It's so obvious that she likes him...but I feel like she's just ignoring me now...' Though I hadn't noticed I was lost in though until I felt a sharp, agonizing pain hit me in the back of my head.

"GAAHH!! Gods, who did that?!" I yelped, gripping my head in pain. "Maybe if you weren't daydreamin' wouldn't have gotten hit!" I heard Sully follow-up her punch with a brutal lecture. 'Oh...right. I was helping out with cleaning the equipment...'

"Right, right sorry." I mumble and continue polishing a dull-colored sword. "Gosh Sully, if ya keep messin' with him with your mysterious man powers, he's gonna shut down!" I heard Vaike mess around but I've known him long enough to see he was just protecting me. "Nonsense! Such a beauty comes from elegant strength! After all, roses have thorns!" Of course her love sick puppy chimes in to deflect her incoming insults. "I-I still don't think you should be too hard on him Sully..." I faintly heard Sumia stutter from behind me. I returned her kindness with a simple thank you and smiled. "One day you hopeless people will understand that Stahl needs to toughen up." Sully sighed. 'I can't help but admit she is right...' I looked down as I moved on to another weapon to clean. "It would be very generous of you all to lower the volume of you're pointless quarrels please." I looked over to see Miriel cooped up in the far left corner, reading. "Aren't you supposed to be helping us clean the weap-" Miriel shot a glare at Vaike that quickly shut him up though it earned a chuckle from me. "Whoa! The weapons are constantly floating!" I heard Sully yell as I heard a faint sigh from....somewhere? Oh well. I glance back over to Robin and Lissa who are still in a warm embrace. 'I'm not giving her up yet, tactician...'

Fredrick's PoV

As requested on me, I sat beside milord as he and Flavia discussed about our troop organizations and our upcoming bout with the western khan's team.

"So Chrom, you've spoken highly about your tactician. Is he really all that?" I hear her chuckle as she looks back. "I assure you, he really is 'all that.'" I lightly clear my throat to bring their attention off of their gossip, and on to me."Milady, pardon my interruption, but on my lord's behalf may I ask how many soldiers may we receive if we win?" The khan closed her eyes and put her hand on her chin as if she was in deep thought. "Mmm...how about two-thousand?" Milord gasped as I went wide-eyed.. "Fl-Flavia....that's half of your army!" Her face seem to have hardened at his statement as she replied, "I'm well aware of this Chrom. Honestly these undead bastards aren't making life a slice of pie here in Ferox." The carriage soon came to a sudden stop as the falling snowflakes went from a diagonal trail to a fixated line.

"Our destination has been reached!"
