Shreyas pov :-
I walked back into the room and sat beside her again, my heart refusing to calm down. Every second felt heavier as I kept staring at her pale face, willing her eyes to open, willing her to look at me just once and remind me that she was still mine, still here.
The room was quiet except for the beeping of the monitors and the slow rise and fall of her chest. But to me, it wasn’t peaceful. It was suffocating. Every sound made my heart jump, every silence felt like a threat.
I leaned forward, brushing my thumb over her knuckles gently, afraid even my touch might break her. “Wake up, baby… please,” I whispered, though I knew she couldn’t hear me.
My eyes kept flicking toward the door, searching for the nurse, desperate for an update. When she finally came in, I couldn’t stop myself.
“When will she wake up?” My voice cracked with impatience.
She looked at me with soft eyes, like she had seen this too many times before. With a small, tired smile, she said, “ The dose was heavy so it might take longer to get her sense back properly. It might be by this evening or by tomorrow morning, sir. She needs rest. Let her sleep.”
Tomorrow.
Those words dropped on me like a weight. Tomorrow felt like a lifetime away. How was I supposed to wait until then, sitting here helpless, watching her in this state?
I nodded to the nurse, but inside, I was restless. I wanted to shake time itself, drag tomorrow into today. My fingers tightened around hers.
“Tomorrow,” I muttered under my breath, looking at her still face. “How do I wait till tomorrow when I already feel like I’m losing pieces of myself every second?”
The nurse left quietly, but I didn’t even notice. My world was reduced to this small bed, this fragile body lying on it, and the fear of what tomorrow might bring.
When the doctor came for his routine check, I stood up instantly, waiting to hear something—anything—that would give me hope. He examined her quietly, then said, “She is doing better physically. If you want, you can discharge her this evening. But… she should not stay here longer. Hospitals, strangers, nurses—they can trigger her panic again. She needs a safe place, somewhere she feels at home.”
I nodded quickly. “Yes. We’ll take her. Right away.”
Signalling Avyansh to come with me as mehek stayed behind.
Avyansh handled the paperwork with me, both of us silently finishing signatures while our minds stayed inside that room.
When we came back and saw, Mehek sat beside Nayan, holding her hand, speaking softly about the slap incident—how she lost her control and later apologized. I knew Nayan wasn’t listening, but I also knew her soul could still feel the love around her.
By evening, we carried her out carefully. I didn’t want her to go back to the palace—it was too big, too full of eyes, too much noise. She needed peace. So, I took her to the other house in the village. A smaller place, quieter, safer.
Arush , her brother helped her to get these place in short span of time through he was against her letting
My parents decided to settle there with us for a while, just to help with her recovery. The others stayed back at the main house.
Taking her in my arms I sat on the backseat of the car as Avyansh and Mehek took the front seat. Making sure that everyone settled comfortably Avyansh rev the engine and drove off.
