Chapter 15 - "We need to talk." (G)

"I'm sorry, your card is denied."
Said the girl at the Apple store.
How can that be? I instantly mind linked that to Alpha.
"Try your personal card I will reimburse you later." was an answer that came from him.

"Try this card instead?" I said and handed her my personal card.
"I'm sorry, this card has been also denied."
That's weird. I sent the message to alpha again and he answered to let it go and get back.
"Ok. Goodbye then." I said and walked to the car.

This is really weird, I know I didn't touch my money in more than a week and I should have had enough on my account for that payment to go through. We'll sort it out later. As I'm walking towards the car I see white limousine passing by. Looks like them but in such hour? I checked the back of the limo and I was right. Little bumper sticker of a black wolf gave it away. Member of werewolf council is cruising through the town. This day is getting more weird every minute.

I drove to our building and parked as before even though there was a space in front of the entrance because all the firefighters trucks went away - only fire investigators and police stayed. They'll probably stay for couple more hours to figure out what exactly happened. I don't like being near human policemen at all... they can't figure out sh*t but their arrogance stinks miles and miles from them.

"Come help us pack. Alpha said." Was a message from Anita. I don't like that behavior at all. Alpha could've mind linked it himself. But I also wonder how the floor looks like and what has left out of our stuff. I'm not exactly attached to any of the things I've left in my room but I guess other feels different about it especially girls.

"It's good you took the biggest car we own - others are gone and we need to move what have left." Said Paul the moment I set the foot out of the elevator.
"You seems to like that car, I haven't seen you driving anything else for a week now." He continued while walking towards the pile of boxes.

I didn't bother to answer him as he didn't even wanted an answer. But it's true. Even though that car is kinda crappy I didn't touch a steering wheel of any other car since Saturday. I don't know why but probably Moon Goddess knew it and advised me a bit because that's the only reasonable thing that justifies that.

Everything bad happens for a reason and I truly believe that because thanks to being bullied, which is considered bad, I'm still alive. So this fire will have some positive outcome for sure as well.
"Nooooo! My beloved hat!!" Sydney's scream came out of here room.
I was so damn right! I hated that freaking hat of hers! It was made out of real pigeons feather... what kind of a sick person wears that?!

I got interrupted by Alpha's command.
"Garret we need you in the Archive."
"I'm coming."
As I waked in I saw Alpha and Warren drying some wet half-burned files. It's old school to keep records on paper but it's more safe than online database in our case. Werecouncil has really crafty hackers.

"Alpha, Warren..." I nodded as greetings to them.
"Garret, almost everything is destroyed. We don't know if anything is missing but we hope not. All cars are gone and the pack's bank account is blank such as those of other members. Our cash reserves are also damaged by the fire but we can still use some amount." That was the summary Warren gave me.

"I can go buy things with cash but I saw their white limo cruising around so I think we better wait." I informed them in return. Both of their faces darkened.
"That's not good." Alpha stated this obvious fact. I know that too.
"I accepted Nina's offer and I think it's good decision. But I'm sure they're going to monitor your car and her house as well. We need to get all the pack members go there secretly as much as possible."
I expected him to take that chance out of his own interest but now it looks like the only reasonable thing he could do.

"There's a forested area behind Nina's garden. It even slipped my attention so it might be a good idea to try enter the house that way." I recommend to Alpha.
"Sounds good, I'll make the arrangements then."

....

I parked the car on the side of a road and let the engine running. I'm gonna really miss this car. Plan is for me to get back to Nina's now and let the car here so they will think I'll be back. I don't know how that's going to work.

While thinking about all of that someone knocked on my window. I didn't hear him coming but I'm good at staying still so whoever came couldn't tell I've been surprised.
I slowly turned my head to see who's the person... and I'd be lying if I'd say I wasn't surprised!

....

"Welcome.
Please feel like at home here but we need to establish some rules." Said Nina nervously.
"My deceased husband wanted this house to be open to anyone who needs the help so I'm honoring his wish. It's a lot of us here and I know you probably weren't used to taking care of common spaces in your apartment building but we need to take turns to mop floors etc. since I am not really capable of taking care of it with my recent surgery and this monkey." She pointed at Michael and chuckled a bit.
"I know it is only temporary as I heard from Alastair but let's stay on good terms during those few days and when you leave let's make the house ready for next ones in need." Finished Nina her speech.

"Regarding the computer..." Warren stepped in and looked at her.
"You can use mine if you need to do some work." Nina said while struggling with tying Michael's diaper. He started to become really active and he considers laying on his back as a waste of time. I'm happy he got to this phase when Nina is back and can handle that. I empathize with her because I've had enough taking care of him while she was in a hospital.

"So kind of you, Nina. Thank you for providing your laptop to help us out." Warren took the burden of interacting with her because he's the one who's used to dealing with our human clients so he know how to speak with her.
"Do you happen to have a printer?" He asked and I remembered we need to sign contracts with all the members again since the fire took away those files as well.
"Yes. It's in the storage room in the attic. I'll bring it down here when I'm done with this little trouble maker." Said Nina and finally zipped the diaper. With the clean baby in her hands she started walking towards the staircase.
"Great! So Andy, please, could you start? The rest of us will go to bed early today because tomorrow there's gonna be a lot of work."

That's a smart move to get everyone away from her.
"We need to talk." I mind linked Alpha and Warren because I have to tell them what happened when I parked the car.
