Me, Garret and Warren went to the basement to talk. Garret didn't want to mind link anything just in case. In the basement, that is kind of storage place, we can be alone and nobody can hear unless they are all the way down the stairs.
"So what is going on?" I asked Garret.
"As I parked the car Mr. Nikson met me..."
"What did you just say? Anita's father?!" Warren reacted in surprise.
"Yes. He said I shouldn't tell Anita he came to me."
"How did he know? Or better yet, how much he knows?" Warren looked at me and was deeply in thoughts.
"He said he just recently found out Anita's whereabouts but when he came with a limo the fire was happening. That's how he noticed my van and followed me. Although he didn't deny he froze all our accounts...He wanted Anita to come back or ask for help." Said Garret.
"Do we believe that?" I asked and looked at both of my trusted supporters. Eve thought I am Alpha, they can notice a lot of things and I'm grateful for their insights.

"I'm not sure. Just like this it sounds fishy... and we  still need to explain the fire." Said Warren.
"That's not the whole story. He came to me talking not only as a father but as a possible ally."
Can this get even more complicated? I'm a bit worried what is Garret going to say next.
"Go on..." I encourage him.
"He said there is another powerful player in werecouncil who is rising to power and aspiring to overthrow his reign. He wants us to get rid of him."
"Who is that?" Warren asked.
"He didn't give me any name. He said if we want to cooperate he will come tomorrow evening to my car and we can discuss it."

"We should get more information about this." I said to them.
"It's going to be tougher now since werecouncil keeps those things under wraps." Said Warren and immediately started typing messages. "I'll see what we can get."
"What do you think? Should we do it?" I ask them both. It is unique opportunity to strike a deal with a werecouncil head. We could show how corrupt the head is and that it is not the first time someone from the highest positions resorted to the killing of opponents.
"Our priorities are set. We were supposed to deal with Silver Moon pack now, but opportunity like this can never happen again." Said Warren.
"I'm not sure about this." Said Garret. "I understand why he chose us - we are known basically in every corner as the mercenaries and maybe he can make it can look like a vengeance or an accident in front of the council... But there might be something more to it. I'm positive he must have backing, someone who would speak up on his behalf if the council caught wind of the real reason." He finished and I must give it a thought.

"You're right... maybe the whole council wants to get rid of the newcomer and Nikson is playing the scapegoat." I think out loud.
"Or not even scapegoat. Maybe he's just a spokesperson. And then council will accuse us of breaching the law and wipe us out as they did before." Said Warren.
"That makes sense as well. When they wiped out our pack they used the same precedence. Maybe they'd spare Anita since she's Nikson's daughter... maybe that's why Nikson agreed to be the spokesperson. Some benefit needs to be there for him otherwise he'd not jeopardize his position." Said Garret.

"But is this enough for him to risk it all?" Asked Warren.
"But what if we refuse? What will he do since we now know about this..." answered Garret. I'm slowly loosing it since I am still overjoyed sharing the same roof with Nina. I am not able to focus now and those questions are not making it easier for me.
"Alpha...So what do we think? Are we in or is it too risky?" Asked Garret and it broke the train of my thoughts.
"I'm not able to think straight tonight." I told them the truth. "This whole house is filled with my mate's presence and anything else is going down the drain for me. I'm really not capable of any decision, the sensation is so raw right now..."
"I understand. It was the same for me too." Said Warren and I can feel his understanding. Garret didn't experience mate bond yet but I can see he understands me as well - he had been with me in this mess since second one so he had seen it all.

"Let's get to bed and we will see tomorrow." I said and with that we went to get some rest. I need to really think it through and hopefully tomorrow my head will be clearer.
