"Hammamam"
Slap!
Something just slapped me straight on my forehead! As I'm carefully opening my eyes (in case the slap will come again I don't want to get hit in the eye) I see his smiling face unfolding in front of me. My Love, my baby, my Michael!"Good Morning honey! I'm up." I said to him with a bright smile. Seeing his toothless smile the first thing in the morning is priceless. It's just a 6 months since I first saw his face, not counting ultrasound pictures, and I'm still in awe ever time I see him.
I could use some more sleep but he is obviously ready to start the day. I pay the clock a quick check and I realize it's 7am. Well, 5 hours of sleep, not bad today. Thanks to that weirdo in a club I could wrap it up early. It was strange. I don't want to think about it when I have my baby here. Besides it's the first weekend of the month so I have the weekend off. Not every girl in my job can afford to ask for a weekend off - they would tell her not to come back anymore. This is stated in my contract and it's another courtesy of the former owner.
Michael really teaches me to live in a present moment.
I snuggle my little boy and after like 5 seconds I'm being pushed away from him just so I can be pulled back as he wants to grab the picture on my pyjama T-shirt. I sit down on a bed and take Michael into my arms. He just recently started to rollover and it's scaring the hell out of me because now I can't let him on the bed while getting dressed. He has to go "behind the bars".
I put him in his crib and I start to get dressed. He's playing with a teether so I have a chance to collect things I want to wash and tidy up the room a bit. I can't see my gray leggings I came from work in yesterday. I bet Cathy borrowed them for her morning jogging. She's going with Martin and a group today. I saw Martin a few times when he came to work on some assignments. I think he likes Cathy as much as she does but she's not giving him any hints. Such a cute puppies.
"Haaaamamamam!" Michael yelled at me from his crib.
"Yes my love! You must be hungry! Let's make you some yummy porridge for breakfast. But first we have to change your nappy and get you dressed." I took him out of his crib and walked to the bathroom. I wanted to wash him but as I turned on the hot water only cold one was coming out of the faucet.Cathy probably used all the hot water for her morning shower. That girl! I should raise her rent for that! But I think it's ok. We have a great relationship. I trust her so I can leave her babysit Michael while I'm working and that's what really matters. That she's using my clothes, using up all the hot water, eat what I cook but complaining about it? Who cares! She's like my younger sister and this is what young girls her age do to their siblings.
"You're all nice and clean sweet pea. Just a finishing touch with your baby powder and you're absolutely ready to dine. Let's go have some breakfast."
"Haamaamam"
"Hahaha. I take this as 'yes' dear." I laughed and lifted him from the changing table. I gave him his onesie that says 'World's Cutest Baby'. It's so true! When we entered the kitchen I remembered I have no more bread and we need some other things as well. I could go out with Michael but I don't really feel like it so I'll just order the delivery.
"I changed my mind love. Let's give you some milk first and momy will order groceries while you eat ok?"
We went to a living room and sat on a sofa. I'm happy I can still breastfeed my baby - it saves so much time and money. But I also want him to start eating normal food.I ordered groceries and after my happy baby had a full tummy I let him burp and laid him on his playmat so I can do the basic cleaning around. That's how I'm using my weekend off... sad... but that's life and I don't complain.
"Beep!" I got the message from the delivery app that they're near. That's great.
"Ding dooooong" the bell rang so I go get the door.
"Good morning! Your groceries miss." The delivery guy said.
"Thank you so much." I replied with a smile and was going t take the bags.
"Ehm... miss." He fidgeted. "There's a vine in the order and I have to make sure you're old enough to drink."
"Ah.. ok, let me just grab my wallet real quick." I sighed and went to get my ID. This happens all the time and it's bit tiring but it gives me advantages as well. I often pretend I'm not old enough to like sign myself for a loan or telephone plan or whatever sellers can annoy people. And when with Michael I pretend I'm a nanny, Au pair or older sister - whatever people suggest. It also helped me with that creepy bodyguard of the weirdo from the club. I'm sure he didn't expected a stripper looking like a teenager so I just played along. Why am I still thinking about it?
"Here you go." I handed my ID to the delivery guy.
"Oh! I'm so sorry miss. You definitely don't look 27! Have a good day!" He blushed while giving me back my ID and ordered food. Well, what can I do with that, it's genetic.I walked to the kitchen so I can start putting away groceries and making Michels food when the doorbell rang again. Maybe the delivery guy forgot something. No, it's Martin.
"Hi Martin! What are you doing here?"
"Hi Nina! Cathy is not going with us today?" He asked while peeking over my shoulder if he can see the girl he's asking about.
"She already left. She wouldn't miss it for the world. Don't tell her but I think she really likes you. Why don't you ask her out?" I'm trying to encourage him with a smile. These kids need a little push."You... you think she likes me?" He shyly murmured.
"I do. And I also think that she maybe just met a friend and forgot about the time. You know our 'Chatty Cathy'... so don't worry. Actually, she is probably free this afternoon so why don't you call her after lunch and make some plans?" I know I'm being really pushy now but whatever."Mamamamahama"
"I'm sorry Martin I have to go, my little mouse is in need of my presence."
"Haha. Sure thing. Thanks so much Nina. Bye!"
We both laughed and waved goodbye. I hurried to the kitchen, quickly finished porridge leaving mess all over the place, took my complaining baby and walked towards the dining table.I buckled Michael to his chair, sat on the chair next to him and we started his breakfast. I'm making all sort of funny things with a spoon so he can laugh and eat. I'm enjoying it so much as well because it's pretty relaxing just to let my mind go and do all kinds of nonsense.
The key rumbled and I heard a door being opened and closed and I heard some footsteps.
"Hey Cathy! What happened?" I shouted over my shoulder without turning to see the incoming girl.
"You just missed Martin. He was worried where have you been. He said he'll call you after lunch." I said barely holding my laugh and I turned around to give that young chick a playful wink. She will be grateful later for sure.I turned over and a smile on my face froze instantly. I see Cathy with her hair all messed up, looking pretty scared and behind her...
"You're that weird Andrew's friend from the club! What are you doing in my house?!"
