Chapter 6. Tiny crush

You had started taking Lapis to meet Steven around the Big Donut for the past week when you get off work, and you both got around to explaining that the meetings needed to stay a secret from the Crystal Gems. When you came back to the apartment when Steven is called back all hyped up, you thought about something while Lapis excitedly asks Tiana what's for dinner (you also taught Lapis what eating is. With the help of Steven, of course). You had become attached to Lapis these past few weeks, joined with her at the hip, really. You thought about her more often that yourself. You think you like her. Like, a crush. You blushed when you thought about it. Lapis appeared around the corner and you quickly tried to stop blushing. "Tiana's making hot dogs tonight! Hey, what's up with your face? Do you have some sort of human illness?" She asked, poking your blushing cheeks. "Oh, n-no, it's nothing! Human's do this normally. It just happens sometimes," you said, trying not to fumble your words. Lapis shrugged it off. "Well, how about a game of Uno while we wait for the food?" Lapis suggested, laying across your bed, waiting for your response. "Yeah! Sure!"  You said, jumping off the bed and grabbing the Uno cards. "You're gonna lose, (Y/N)! I am the Uno master!" Lapis boasted, grinning. "Oh, I'll beat you this time, Lapis Lazuli!" You said setting up the game.

You were halfway through the game, losing to Lapis until Tiana announced hot dogs were done. You got up and poked Lapis's nose. "You're cheating. I know it." You said, grinning. She stuck her tongue out at you and you sat at the table, continuing to make faces. Tiana set down dinner and you had a conversation about the day's activity. You, Lapis, and Steven all decided to name the fusion you guys made Laven(Y/N).  You later discovered on the blog "Keep Beach City Weird" what your fusion looked like. It had curly hair like Steven, and the long front bangs of Lapis, and your (Hair length) hair. And light lilac skin with six eyes. You all thought Laven(Y/N) looked pretty cool. Tiana thought the whole fusion thing was interesting so she prodded at both you and Lapis for details.

After an hour of answering all of your sister's fusion questions, she said she was gonna go to sleep and you nodded. As Tiana disappeared, you looked at Lapis. "So. What now? We can't wake up Tiana since we can't play Uno without loudly raging," you said, chuckling. Lapis giggled. "Well, there's always that question that you never answered," Lapis said, leaning towards you and resting her chin on her hands. You shook your head. "If you want to know, here's my phone and just open up Safari and search it up. I ain't tellin you that," you said, signing into your phone and handing it to Lapis. "Fine," she said, typing what she was looking for in the search bar. You were internally snickering and watching her with held breath to see her reaction. Her face went from defiant to "what did I just see".
"Satisfied?" You asked, taking back your phone and not daring to look at the screen as you closed out of the tab. Lapis leaned back in the seat and stared at the ceiling. "I cannot process what just happened," she said, looking at you. You could tell she was trying so hard not to laugh. You snickered and she giggled, sitting up. "Well, you should go to sleep, human," she said, pushing you to your bed. "But mom, I'm not tired," you said, not budging. "I thought your species got tired! Besides, you work tomorrow, don't you?" Lapis asked, not giving up on pushing you. "I don't work on weekends, Lapis," you said. She huffed, still pushing you. You raised an eyebrow before you smirked and started falling back on purpose. "Gravity is failing on me, Lapis. I can't move," you said as you looked at her at an upside down angle. She grinned and dropped you, which made you freak out momentarily, until you felt something catch you. Lapis had quickly sprouted her wings and caught you.
"You sly little fox," you said, narrowing your eyes at her. "I've been called clever," Lapis said, using her wings to get you to stand back up. "Fine, have your way. I'll go to bed," you said as you walked to your bed and sat on it, pulling out your laptop. "I thought you were going to bed?" Lapis asked, putting her hands on her hips. "I did go to bed, I'm just not sleeping," you replied as you poked her nose. She sat next to you and looked at the screen. You were opening up Netflix and scrolling through movies. "Wanna watch a movie with me?" You asked, looking at Lapis. "Sure! What's a movie?" She asked, looking at the screen. "It's like watching a thing that a bunch of people worked together to make, and sometimes it's based off of real things that happened like... Gimme Shelter, or The Life of Pi," you explained. Lapis nodded and pointed at Dead Silence. "What's that?" She asked.  "Well, why don't we watch it?" You said as you clicked on it. It loaded for a moment and then the movie started. When the dummy first appeared on screen Lapis let out an eugh sound. When the woman was dragged into the room, Lapis squeaked and grabbed your arm, then laughed for a moment at her own squeaking. You blushed a little and quickly stopped yourself from wrapping your arm around Lapis. (Y/N), (Y/N) no. You can't do that. She would guess what's happening. She probably has a partner. Don't get your hopes up on that "probably," you thought to yourself. You continued to watch the movie.

Halfway through the movie you fell asleep. Lapis watched it until the end, shivering with excitement. She closed your laptop and put it on the nightstand, turning towards you to excitedly exclaim how awesome that was, She paused when she realized you were asleep. She nudged you to see if you were really asleep and you didn't move, you just kept breathing evenly. She looked across at Tiana, who was snoring quietly. Lapis smiled to herself and leaned towards you and whispered "goodnight, (Y/N). Sweet dreams." Lapis hesitated before she softly kissed your forehead and was about to slip off the bed, until she realized you had fallen asleep with your arm around her. Not wanting to disturb your sleep, Lapis decided to just lay there and go to sleep next to you. Today, today was a great day.
