"(Y/N)! Hurry up or we're gonna be late!" Lapis called as she swung open the door. "In a minute, Lapis! I'm putting on my shoes!" You called to her. "Your last excuse was that you were getting dressed though! You're wearing exacTLY what you were wearing to sleep!" She stood by the door, her arms folded. You giggled. "Babe, I'm wearing shorts and a crop top." Lapis chuckled and pulled on the hoodie and the beanie. Anyone would have thought it was unusual but Lapis can't really react to different temperatures. Finishing tying the final knot, you stood up. "Now we can go, Lapis," you said. She had a spring in her step, excited to see Steven again and tell him everything.

Steven waved as you two appeared in his sight, standing next to a friend. Staying at your pace, Lapis held your hand and waved to Steven briefly with her free hand. "Lapis! (Y/N)! This is my friend Connie! We were planning on meeting you yesterday, but you weren't here," Steven said, tilting his head as to question why. "It's very nice to meet you, Connie," you greeted. The young girl waved and smiled. You looked at Lapis, who was lightly gnawing uneasily on her knuckles while blushing. Steven unfortunately noticed this.
"Lapis, what's wrong?" He asked, childishly tugging on her arm. Connie looked at me and pointed to herself then to a bench with a questioning look on her face, probably meaning to say "should I be around for this?"
You shrugged, giving Connie an awkward smile before looking back at Lapis who still hasn't answered Steven. Sighing as you grabbed her hand firmly, you smiled at her. "We told Tiana, we can tell Steven. Just gotta come clean," you tried to comfort her. Steven was patiently waiting for an answer, not taking any hints from the hand holding.
"We didn't tell Tiana though. Tiana caught us," Lapis said in almost a whisper. "Well then Steven's going to have to catch us, won't he?" You grinned, hoping that would work. Lapis looked at Steven, who didn't take his eyes off either of you. So patient, you thought. She looked back at you and nodded. "So. Steven. Don't be judgmental about this buuuuuuuut," you started. You gently cupped Lapis's cheek and kissed her before quickly pulling back to look at Steven. "Lapis and I are a thing," you finished. It was a couple seconds of quiet before Steven hugged both of you. "Precious couple must be protected. Right now," he said, looking determined. Lapis giggled, looking at you. Steven looked at Connie. "Hey, Connie! Want to see what we can make?" Steven asked her, grinning nearly ear to ear. "Sure, Steven!" Connie said, setting down her book and looking at the three of you. "So I guess I'll do this probably how the gems do it," he said. Holding out his hand to you, you smiled. Taking his hand, you tried not to lead, being taller and nearly an adult. A bright light after a couple of creative and probably non existent dance moves later surrounded you and Steven, making a new fusion. Connie clapped before Lapis started elegantly dancing towards your fusion, meanwhile you and Steven were trying to be graceful, though it was more of gracefully clumsy. Finally fusing with Lapis, Laven(Y/N) was back. Connie's eyes sparkled. "WOAH!" She said, running up to the fusion. Kneeling down, Laven(Y/N) set down their hand for Connie to stand on. Standing back up, the fusion smiled. "That's really cool, Lapis! Er... Steven... And.. (Y/N)..!" She said, not exactly sure what to call the three of you. "Just call me 'Laven(Y/N), Connie," the fusion said in their gentle yet excited tone of voice. People had gotten used to seeing that giant agendered fusion, they just looked at it and continued on.
Suddenly, the three of you felt something scrape your side, setting down Connie to see what just happened, your side was scratched and a small amount of blood could be seen. Feeling the same sharp object impale your neck, you made the fusion turn around. There was the crystal gems, ready to fight, but they stopped once they saw the gem on the navel. Feeling uncomfortable with the small puncture in the back of your necks plus the scratches on your sides, you tried to stay fused. The gem you remembered as Pearl had her hands over her mouth, her eyes wide. "Guys?" Steven spoke from the fusion. Feeling their side, sapphire blue blood could be seen on the fusion's fingertips. The gems' weapons disappeared, they looked guiltily at each other, then looked at the ground. Laven(Y/N) took one of the six arms and licked the hand before holding the hand to their neck. Lapis shuddered within the fusion. Licking another hand, the giant brushed the saliva off on their side. Soon the irritating feelings went away, keeping your fusion more stable. Connie waved at the gems. "It's just Steven and a couple of friends in a fusion!" She said. Garnet grunted, observing the fusion closely. "How is it... Lilac?" Pearl asked, taking small steps towards Laven(Y/N). "Oh, well, a gem is in that fusion," Connie said. The whole fusion tensed up, hunching its shoulders. "Ooh... Was I not supposed to say that?" Connie asked. Struggling to stay fused, the fusion reached back and felt around for Lapis's gem on the back. Feeling fabric covering the gem, there was a sigh of relief. "Steven, who is the other gem?" Garnet asked. Amethyst poked at the bangs. "Heh. It's like Opal," she said. Steven fumbled with his words.
"Steven, it's okay. Tell them. Tell them it's me," Lapis whispered. "What's going to happen to you?" You whimpered. She said nothing.
"It's Lapis," Steven eventually said. You felt like crying. You had forced yourself to think and believe when Lapis gets caught something bad would happen to her. "Can you unfuse?" Garnet asked. Nodding slightly, Laven(Y/N) plucked off Amethyst from their hair. Glowing bright white for a second, you closed your eyes. Opening them again you saw Lapis. Setting down Steven from your unfused dance pose, you stared at the gems, fearful of what might happen next.

The gems huddled together and murmured to each other. Lapis looked at you, tears welling up in her eyes. "I should have kept flying," her voice shook. "Lapis, nothing bad is going to happen. I promise," you whispered, though it was also meant to comfort yourself, too.
Hugging you tightly, burying her face in your shoulder all over again, she sobbed.
"This might be the last time we ever see each other," she whispered. "Lapis, don't say that... We aren't even sure what they're going to do," you said. Steven hugged her legs. "It's okay, Lapis. We won't let the gems hurt you," he said. Lapis let out a small laugh, reaching a hand down and ruffling his hair. You all had forgotten the crystal gems were right there, watching and listening, until Pearl cleared her throat. "We should take Lapis now, so if you don't mind-" Pearl started. Steven cut her off. "Oh come on Pearl! They can't part like this!" Steven said, still hugging Lapis's leg. "I don't see why not," Amethyst said. Steven huffed. "Love is a precious thing, Amethyst. You mustn't hurt it," Steven said. Lapis giggled. You wiped her tears, laughing a little bit. Garnet leaned back on a boulder. "Two days." Was all she said. "Two days of what?" Pearl said. "Two more days until we take Lapis to the temple," She said. "Whoa, Garnet! What about the thing?" Amethyst asked. "It can wait," she said. Looking at Lapis, your eyes sparkled. She looked back at you, grinning before she kissed you, hugging you and almost breaking your ribs. Too excited to care about your bones, you returned the kiss. A guilty "oh" came from Pearl as she watched the scene. Steven ran up to Garnet and shouted a thousand thank you's.

Later, you were all in Steven's house, having conversations with the gems and such. Garnet walked up to you and put her hand on your shoulder. "Make those two days count, (Y/N). I know what it's like to be apart," she said.
You nodded, smiling at her. She walked away to activate her door to her room and go organize the bubbles. Your phone went off in your pocket, picking it up you answered your sister's call. "Hey, Tiana!" You said.
"Where are you? It sounds like you're in a restaurant!" Your sister exaggerated. You chuckled. "Nah, just hangin' with the gems!"
"The gems?" She asked, suddenly interested. "Yes, the gems."
"Tell them I sAID HI," she said. putting the phone on speaker you spoke out loud. "Hey everyone! My sister says hi. She likes what you guys do," you said, smugly grinning. "WOO thanks!" Amethyst said, mouth full of chaaaaaaps. "I greatly appreciate your praise, and I'm sure Garnet would too!" Pearl said. "HI!" Steven shouted. You took the phone off speaker. And everyone returned to their activities. You heard high pitched squealing on the other line. Hanging up saltily (i'msosorry), you joined back in with the group.
