You sat on the couch in Steven's home in front of the temple, watching the warp pad. This was the second day you came over since Lapis left.

"If you're worrying about how she's doing, trust me she's fine," Steven said, breaking your thoughts. You looked at the boy and smiled.

"Sorry. It's just I worry about how much she can handle," you said, your smile quickly disappearing.

"Oh, she never told you a lot about Malachite, did she?" Asked Steven.

"Well... Not a lot. Just that it was a horrible fusion that was built on hate, and she absolutely despised being a part of it," you answered, wondering what about the painful fusion did Lapis not tell you about.

"So in every fusion, there's a realm. I've been in the Malachite realm by connecting to Lapis in my dreams. The first time I went there, she looked awful. And she kept on telling me she had to focus and that I needed to leave, before she lost her dominant place in the realm and went under the water that I thought was shallow. Across the realm, Jasper emerged. Weak, as well. And Lapis had did that to Jasper. Made her weak from trying to escape her chains and quickly became the dominant gem once again. And I will tell you now, Jasper is about eight feet tall and is all muscle and hair and built up on rage," Steven explained. Hearing this, you calmed down.

"Wow... Lapis is just... Unstoppable," you said quietly. Steven chuckled, but stopped when both of you looked up and heard the warp pad.

Only Pearl emerged, which made you slump back. Steven, however, popped up off the couch.

"Pearl!! Where's Lapis? How close is she to being done? Do you even track this stuff? Are Garnet and Amethyst waiting for her at the end?" He continued to ask the gem questions piled upon questions. Pearl pat his head and smiled in a motherly way.

"Steven, she's doing just fine. I don't know exactly what she's doing, but I'll bet she's nearing toward the end," Pearl told him. Steven looked back at you and giggled. You grinned at him as a response.

The warp pad activated again and you looked towards it hopefully, nervously fiddling with your thumbs.

Sure enough, the familiar blue gem stood on the object, stepping off and looking around. She couldn't see you due to a crook in the wall that made an arch entrance from the temple to the small house. However, she could see Pearl and Steven.

"Pearl! Steven!" She called, "Where's (Y/N)?" She asked, walking into the house and standing at the opening that combined the house and the temple. She had a different outfit now, the same top but with shorts, and the diamond was replaced by the familiar Crystal Gem insignia. You saw Steven glance at you and you put a finger to your lips, signaling him to keep quiet about your presence. Pearl opened her mouth to answer but Steven covered her mouth.

"Uh, we don't know!" He said, grinning innocently. Pearl looked at him, confused. He only smiled at her and pointed to you, sneaking up behind Lapis, taking full advantage that she was facing Pearl and Steven and dropping down to crawl once you were a couple feet away.

"Can you call her, Steven? Let her know I finished the test?" Lapis asked, oblivious to the small plan.

"No need. I'm right here," you had already stood up again and wrapped your arms around her waist from behind. Lapis was startled at first, but she realized it was you quickly and let herself relax against you quickly. At the same time, Steven looked at Pearl, as if to say "see, Pearl? They're love is as strong as Jasper and you wanted to take them apart. Lesson learned!"
Pearl chuckled and shrugged, as if reading his mind and replying with "yeah, I know I tried to separate them, sorry about that."

"Can you just come home now?" You asked, your voice quiet for only Lapis to catch. She reached down to place her hands over yours on her waist.

"We'd have to tell the gems where we're going," she replied. You sighed, resting your chin on her shoulder.

"You won't let this whole crystal gem thing bother us too much, right?" Lapis knew exactly what you were meaning to say. She spun around to face you, grabbing both of your hands with each of her own and intertwined her fingers with yours.

"Don't you ever think that, (Y/N). I told you, I'd love you for as long as you live, and even if you die I'll still love you after that," she said, pressing her forehead to yours.

"God, I love you so much..." You whispered. She covered your mouth.
"I love you more than you could imagine, but we can settle who loves the most later," she giggled and kissed you. Oh yeah. Steven and Pearl were right thERE THE WHOLE TIME OH-

You sighed as you opened the door to the apartment, greeting your sister and your first instinct being to dive onto the bed with Lapis giggling behind you.
"Rough day?" She asked, lying down next to you.

"I haven't gotten much sleep since you left," you replied. She smirked.
"I give that effect," Lapis laughed. It took you a moment to get what she was saying.

"Ohmygod no stop I'm too tired for this new personality you've discovered," you grumbled as you pulled a pillow over your face. Lapis chuckled and blew a raspberry. "I started it, and you're glad I did," she said as she took the pillow off your face.

"Well, I couldn't have said no to it, you were irresistible," You smirked. You cast a glance at your sister, who was in the chair in front of the window, talking to herself as she most likely texted her friends.

"I know what that smirk means if I've ever seen one, (Y/N)," Lapis arched an eyebrow.

"So you do," you purred, sitting up and wrapping your arms around her neck, closing the distance between your lips. You felt her blue arms wrap around your torso as the kiss deepened, your lungs beginning to tighten from refusal to stop for breath. However Lapis knew better and broke the kiss, giggling.

"Don't get so caught up that you forget to breathe, (Y/N). You need oxygen, remember?" She kissed your forehead while you panted, taking in a few mouthfuls of air. You let out a weakened chuckle and almost let out a playful retort until you looked over her shoulder.

"Do you mind?" You called out to your sister. Lapis looked over with the most "oh god what" look on her face.

"No." Tiana replied, watching attentively. You groaned and pulled Lapis's arms off of you, your face beginning to flush as you ignored a frantically flustered Lapis trying to sputter out excuses.

Home sweet home.
