Chapter 8. I Love You Too

Lapis pulled back, repeatedly whimpering "I'm sorry" while hiding her face in her hands. You snapped back to reality after a moment and stepped toward Lapis, but she only stepped away from you, shaking her head. "I'm so stupid. This will never work, I don't know what to expect..." She went on whimpering to herself as she sprouted her wings and flew off before you could take another step. You started running to follow after her. I have to tell her. It's now or never, you thought.
"Lapis!" You called out. You knew she was flying in the direction of the apartment. She didn't respond to you. You looked for words, the right words. "Lapis, I love you!" You shouted out, thankful that you were close to beach city and not in the middle of it. Lapis paused and slowly turned around and landed a couple feet away from you. "I love you," you repeated, stepping forward until you were directly in front of Lapis. She said nothing. You thought about what to do for a moment. You did the first thing that came to mind. You grabbed her shoulders and kissed her softly. Lapis tensed up for a moment but she calmed down and put her arms around your neck slowly and returned the kiss. You both stayed like that for a moment, not knowing what to do next. Lapis broke the silence. "I love you, too."

The rest of the day was awkward, to say the least. Neither of you had really been in this kind of a relationship before. As you both walked home, you did throw glances at each other but never said anything.
When you reached the door you opened it and let Lapis in first before walking in and locking the door behind you.
"Hey, sports! Welcome back!" Tiana said, looking up at you both from her laptop. You waved at your sister and kept walking to the bedroom. Tiana shrugged it off and went back to whatever she was doing. You kicked off your shoes as you lay on the bed. Lapis sat on the floor on the duvet you placed for her. "So... What now?" You asked, looking at Lapis. "I don't know, honestly," she replied. You were silent for another minute. "Wanna watch a movie or something?" You asked, glancing from Lapis to your laptop. "You don't have to ask me that twice!" She said, crawling onto the bed next to you. You giggled and grabbed your laptop, scrolling through movies. "So what do you want to watch today, Lapis?"
"Hmmm..." Lapis thought for a moment and pointed at a movie titled Saw. "That one. Looks spooky!" She said. "I can tell you really like horror movies," you giggled and clicked on it.

You were awake for three of the movies, since Lapis demanded that both of you watch all of them. She stayed up until the fourth movie, deciding she should sleep. She kissed your cheek before she curled up beside you and went to sleep.

The two of your slept for the majority of the day, since you both stayed up until around 2 or 3 AM. It was already 1:00 PM when you woke up. Your sister worked Sunday's through Tuesday's so you guessed she wasn't here. Looking over to your side, you nudged Lapis to see if she would wake up. She twitched, but she didn't get up. You smiled and slipped off the bed, getting a cup of water in the kitchen. You got some leftovers from the fridge at ate that. You heard a knock at the door and guessed that it was the mailman or something. You opened the door and saw Steven instead. "Oh hi Steven- wait how did you find me?" You asked, looking at the boy. "I have something to tell Lapis. Do you know where she is?" He asked. "She's asleep," you replied, looking behind you where Lapis was sleeping.
"What time did you guys go to bed? It is 1 PM!" He said, trying to stay as quiet as he could be. "Well I don't know. We were watching a movie series," you said, smiling. "So what did you want to tell Lapis? I can tell her when she wakes up."
"Just tell her 'Garnet found Jasper' and she'll understand. Though there is bad news. They're looking for Lapis now," he said. You nodded, though only understanding half of that, you agreed that you would tell Lapis when she wakes up. You waved goodbye as Steven left and closed the door. You walked back to the bed, hoping that when Lapis wakes up this could be sorted out easier.
Grabbing your laptop, you scrolled through keep beach city weird. Then you found a post that caught your eye. A giant green broken down hand that looked like it had crashed onto this giant mountain that had this statue that looked like a gem fusion carved into the mountain.

Sorry this chapter was shorter than the past 3 and a lot crummier. I promise that chapter 9 will be better ;u; )
