"I remember that."
You turned to look at Lapis, who was now awake. "Oh? You were there when it happened?" You asked. Lapis sat up, hugging her knees. "I was on the ship, actually," she said. "You didn't get hurt too bad, did you?" You asked with concern in your voice. "No. I mean, crushed under debris for a minute but I shoved it off and..." She stopped. "What happened?"
"I tried to fly away. I didn't even flap my wings twice before I was pulled back down. She took my arm, I don't know how it happened... It all happened so fast," Lapis said, her voice cracking. "Who?" You asked, reaching down and holding Lapis's hand. "Jasper..." She whispered.
"Oh, well... Speaking of Jasper, Steven told me to inform you that the gems found her. So I guess no more trouble with her? But, there is a problem. Finding you is one of their top priorities," you told her. Lapis looked at you. "What would the gems want with me? I wasn't the main threat to them!" She raised her voice slightly. You closed your laptop and moved around on the bed so you could sit down and face Lapis. "Let's not talk about the gems right now, okay? We'll sort it out when we see Steven again. How about you tell me the rest of the ship crashing story?" You suggested, smiling at her. She smiled a small smile back and nodded. "Jasper pulled me back down and held me off the ground. She's a very tall and strong gem, so i would guess holding me up by just my arm is a simple task for her. She wanted me to fuse with her. She said that the crystal gems were traitors to their home planet, that they kept me prisoner. I agreed to fuse, but not because of why she thought. We made Malachite. She tried to hurt them. She tried to hurt Steven. But I chained our fusion and dragged ourselves into the water. We stayed there for awhile, but she tricked me and we unfused. She got her revenge in the water, I too got my revenge and she washed up somewhere else. I washed up on shore and then you found me two days later," Lapis said.
"How did you appear as a plain gem?" You asked. "Whenever a gem is badly hurt, they retreat in their gem to recover. That's what happened to me and Jasper," Lapis explained. "Wow," was all you could say. This is... A lot to take in... You thought to yourself. The room was silent. "Let's just... Forget I said that," Lapis said, breaking the silence. "There's a lot of things we don't talk about and forget it's ever been said," you said, smiling at her. She smiled back at you, her grasp on your hand tighter.
"Should I go get ready so we can go mess around in town?" You asked, changing the subject. Lapis shook her head. "Maybe later," she replied. You let out a small chuckle before lifting her chin so you could kiss her. "Mmf!" Lapis, her face now flushed a dark blue, was a little surprised, but she didn't pull back. "Cheer up a little bit, would ya?" You whispered, pressing your nose to hers. Lapis giggled and kissed your cheek. "Okay, I can do that. But only for you." You kissed her again, loving to hear her giggle and see her reaction. You loved everything about Lapis. She was perfect in every single way. "Lapis, can we stay like this forever?" You asked, smiling and gazing into her navy blue eyes. "Well, forever is a long time, (Y/N)," she said, on the downside again. She looked at you and noticed your unchanging expression, still smiling lovingly. She let out a quiet and barely noticeable sigh and smiled back. "I'll love you and follow you to the ends of the Earth for as long as you live, (Y/N)," Lapis adjusted into a happier side. You both went in for another kiss until the door slammed open.
"Guess whose back hOME- oh. Is this uh.... Is this a bad time?" Tiana said, looking across the small apartment with conjoined rooms that (sadly) have no doors into the bedroom where you and Lapis were. Your lips were only centimeters from Lapis's and you both sat there frozen staring wide eyed at Tiana. You mumbled a curse before you and Lapis immediately slipped off on opposite sides of the bed. "Well. I'm going to step outside. This was awkward," your sister said as she opened the door and stepped outside again. Once the door closed Lapis had her face hidden in her hands and you could probably guess she was blushing uncontrollably. Huffing your hair out of your face you walked around to stand in front of Lapis. "Oh my god. Ohhhhhh my god. What do we do now?" Lapis was whimpering into her hands. You pulled them off her face. "We just come clean. Tell the truth. Like we did before, right?" You said with a gentle tone, pulling Lapis's hands away from her face. "But this feels like something no one should know about," her voice cracked. You hushed her. "It's okay. It's natural. People fall in love all the time, and I'll bet you some gems fall in love, too," you continued, trying to cheer her up. She nodded, holding your hand tightly. The knot in your own stomach was getting tighter itself as you brought her along to the door.
Your sister looked at you, putting away her phone. "I thought you were going to be single forever," she said, smirking, already knowing what you were going to say. Lapis started snickering as you huffed and closed the door as your sister slipped past you into the apartment. "So. How long has this been going on?" Tiana asked, her tone gave off that "I'm telling everyone once I know" vibe. "A couple days," you answered. She nodded. Lapis hugged your arm. "I like relationships," she stated. You wanted to scream at her cuteness but you kept it internal. Your sister continued with the questions, and you answered the majority. The heaviness flew off from your chest in relief when you and Lapis spent the rest of the day playing every single board game. Tiana even joined in a few. You didn't trust when she had her phone up. For all you knew, she could be taking pictures of you and Lapis. You didn't really mind you were just nervous about what your sister would do with them.Later at around 7:43 after dinner, you and Lapis realized you never went to see Steven but you both agreed that it was too late and he'd probably be sleep or something by now. You showered and put on some yoga pants and an oversized tank top, curling up into bed beside Lapis. Wrapping your arm around her waist and snuggling close to her back, you kissed her gem before getting fully comfortable. You heard her giggle as she looked over her shoulder and reached around to softly stroke your hair as you drifted to sleep. Another perfect day. Lapis made her way through all your thoughts and dreams, making you have a small smile as you slept through the night.
