Chapter 40

It had been a few weeks since I'd fought Veronica. The boys have been to every game of the season, and we haven't lost. It's like they're our good luck charms.
Today was my last day of school until January, I'm on winter break, or whatever you want to call it.
"Hey mom?" I called to her while walking down the stairs.
"Yes hun?" She asked, getting up from the couch and walking over to me.
"I'm going to the mall to go Christmas shopping." I tell her, grabbing my car keys. That's right, Jake gave me his car.
"Holly. We need to talk about Christmas this year." She states. I feel nervously sick. "Well, Jake and I, we want to go to New Zealand for Christmas to spend it with his family." She tells me.
"Okay, when are we leaving?" I ask.
"Well, thats the thing. We don't think you should come with." She states sheepishly.
"So, you plan on leaving me home alone for Christmas? Is that my present? Getting to be alone?" I snap at her.
"Well you could go see your father if you would rather!" She hissed back.
"You know what? Fine. I'll stay here alone. You and Jake go have fun with his family." I say.
"Thank you. Now you don't need to go shopping either." She says.
"And why is that?" I question her.
"Because me and Jake are leaving so you don't need to buy us anything." She tells me.
"Well there is 7 sidemen, and Cal. And I might get Joe Weller or Callum (callux) a gift aswell." I state. She rolls her eyes.
"Why don't you have any girl friends?" She asks me.
"Well Josh's girlfriend freya and I talked a few times." I tell her. She mumbles something under her breath and walks upstairs. I sigh and walk out to my car.
Once I'm inside the shopping centre I start with Tobi. I buy him a pair of shoes he was looking at online but decided not to get them because thought they were too expensive. I go to Vik next. I get him a pair of earbuds for running and a pair of sunglasses. I get Harry two new xbox controllers because he always breaks them and I get him a new chair for when he breaks another. I get JJ some Criminal Damage clothes and a new aux cord because his is breaking. I get Ethan a watch because he lost his and a pair of sunglasses. I get Josh cute socks, and a few new shirts. I get freya 3 new lipsticks. I get Cal an xbox game that he's been looking at and a sick new custom xbox controller. Finally theres Simon. I get him a new pair of custom cleats and a soccer ball. I then take it all to the gift wrapping store and get them to wrap them.
When I get home I get Josh and JJ to help me bring the gifts into the Sidemen house.
"You really didn't need to get us presents." Josh says.
"I wanted to. You all have been so amazing to me, I couldn't resist." I assure him.
"Christmas is still a week away and our tree already has presents under it?" Harry asks, walking in.
"Holly bought us all presents." JJ states. "Even Cal." He adds.
"How sweet." He states and I smile at him. "I haven't even done any shopping yet, I don't think any of us have." He admits. They all shake their heads at eachother indicating that they haven't.
"I guess we'll be over soon to put of presents under your tree." Josh says to me.
"Well, I don't have a tree this year. Mom and Jake are going to New Zealand for Christmas so I'm not doing much." I tell them.
"Christmas alone?" JJ asks me. I nod.
"You should stay here then." Josh offers.
"There's no space for me here. And I can't bother you like that." I say.
"You could sleep in the guest room!" JJ offers. "Or in my bed and I can blow up an air mattress." He says.
"I don't know guys." I said, wearily.
"Please! It would be awesome." JJ says.
"Talk to the other guys about it." I tell him. "Now I'm going home but text me later." I say to them all, not indicating who I'm talking to. I walk to the door and slip my shoes on, then I leave.
I open the door and instantly hear clutter in the kitchen.
"Mom?" I call.
"Yeah, I'm in the kitchen! Just dropped a frying pan." She responds. I walk to the kitchen and see Jake sitting at the island. I sit beside him.
"Hey Holly. Sorry about not taking you to New Zealand. We figured you wouldn't want to go." He apologized.
"It's alright. The guys invited me to stay over there once you're gone." I tell them. They look at each other before responding.
"Alright. You aren't- Um- Are you going to be staying in Simons room?" My mom asks.
"No mom. You have nothing to worry about." I assure her.
"Okay I'm just making sure." She tells me putting her hands in the air to say she's innocent.
I go upstairs and lay in my bed. My phone starts to ring.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Hey Holly." I hear Josh's familiar voice say.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Well we talked to the other guys and they'd be fine if you stayed here. None of us are going to our parents house this year so we'll all be here. Freezy, Tobi, Ethan and Harry are staying the nights here too." Josh tells me.
"We can't all fit in your house." I tell him.
"You can sleep in JJ's bed. He'll sleep in there on an air mattress. Simon, Vik and I have our rooms. Harry stays in a room downstairs. Freezy is bringing an air mattress too so he's going to be in Jj's room with you. Tobi will take the couch and Ethan had the guest room. We have it figured out. When do your parents leave?" He asks me.
"I'll ask." I say and quickly run downstairs. "Mom when do you leave?" I ask her.
"Tomorrow afternoon and we come back on the 28th." She tells me.
"Did you hear that Josh?" I ask him.
"Yeah. So pack your stuff and bring it over tomorrow. I mean you can go home whenever but it would be easier if you don't have to." He states.
"Alright." I state, hesitantly.
"Alright see you then I guess." He says and hangs up.
I get up and start sorting through what I need to bring. (Media)
I hear a knock on my door and scurry over to answer it. I open the door to see my mom standing there.
"Holly, we need to have a discussion." She says. I step aside to let her pass. She sits on my bed, playing with a bag thats in her hands. I raise an eyebrow at her. "Okay, well since you're spending over a week there. 19th-28th, I got you these." She says, handing me a box of condoms.
"Mom. First of all, its not like that, and second of all, why did you get the 100 pack?" I ask her.
"I just want you to be safe." She says.
"Alright mom." I say and hold the door open for her, gesturing for her to leave.
I can't wait until she's gone.
