When we arrived at the port, hundreds of people were already there waiting as snow fell over the docks. I looked up and spoke without thinking. It's snowing. We were finally back in the country.
Mila's birthday was coming up soon. I had gotten her pregnant on her eighteenth birthday, even if it was never meant to happen that way, and now, on her nineteenth birthday, she was already carrying my child. A black limousine pulled up near the pier, and Nathan stepped out. He opened the door and greeted me.
"Mr. President, how was your trip to Sanctium?" he asked as he guided me inside the car.
"Enjoyable enough," I said. "Spent some time fooling around with the two of them."
The convoy began to move as we left the port. Nathan sat across from me and got straight to business. "What's the situation in Valur?"
"We're doing well," he said. "Large-scale mutinies broke out on the coup side. Entire units switched over and welcomed us openly. The invasion didn't stall, aside from some logistics issues, but resistance is being cleared out bit by bit."
He continued, "At this pace, we could take Valur and unify the whole continent in two weeks flat. Though, honestly, forceful unification probably won't even be necessary."
When we arrived at the residence, Mila was already there, waiting for us. She was holding a child in her arms. Seeing her after all this time made it hard to speak.
"Well," I said after a moment, "it's been a while."
"Yeah," she replied quietly.
I stepped closer, and she took a small step back on instinct. I raised my hands slightly. "Hey, come on. It's not like I committed a crime. You drugged and violated me on my eighteenth birthday," I said flatly.
Her face in response was turning grim. "You're not angry?" she asked after a pause.
"Why would I be?" I replied. "That's my child." I hesitated, then added, awkwardly, "I guess... we're getting married. I need to take responsibility."
She stared at me, clearly stunned.
"I'd take responsibility either way," I continued. "If it hadn't happened like that, sooner or later I probably would've made the first move myself. I was just being pussy and holding back for years."
Her eyes filled with tears.
"Uh-sorry," I said quickly, panicking. "That came out wrong."
She walked toward me, lowered her head, and I pulled her into a hug along with the child.
"His name is Edward," she said.
"I know," I replied.
"He's two months old."
"Yeah. That's what I heard." I looked down at him.
"He looks like you." she said.
"Maybe? He looks like you too," I added. "There's some red tint in his hair."
I straightened and spoke seriously. "If he wants it, I'll make him the next heir. If he doesn't, that's fine too. He can choose his own path. But he takes after me, so it wouldn't be strange."
As things seemed to calm down, Nathan and Leo quietly motioned the guards farther away, giving us space.
"Why did you take three other lovers?" Mila asked as she's grumbling. So, those information had reached her ears.
"I... can't really answer that," I said, hearing that, she pouted, then corrected herself.
"You made me wait nearly eight years. Meanwhile, women you met for only a couple of months ended up pregnant. Even Lerea-well, that was different, since it was through a sperm bank. Still, what are you planning to do about the other three?"
