INT. SECLUDED LIBRARY - NIGHT

Back in the library, Aiyue and Shixiang sit side by side, their closeness offering them both comfort. They continue to discuss the reform movement's progress, their hands still intertwined beneath the table.

AIYUE

(Seriously) "The officials are scared, Shixiang. They speak of reform in whispers, and even then, they look over their shoulders. Your father's influence looms large, and they fear his wrath more than the emperor's."

SHIXIANG

(Sighing) "My father is a formidable figure, one who values tradition and stability above all else. To him, change is a threat—one that he will crush without hesitation."

Aiyue looks at Shixiang, her eyes filled with empathy.

AIYUE

"Does he know of your involvement?"

SHIXIANG

(Shaking his head) "Not yet. But he suspects something. I've been careful, but he's not a man easily fooled. If he finds out... it won't just be me he comes after."

Aiyue's grip on Shixiang's hand tightens slightly. She knows the danger they are in, but she refuses to let fear dictate their actions.

AIYUE

"We'll have to be even more careful. The movement is gaining momentum, but it's also gaining attention. Your father will not be the only one watching."

Shixiang nods, his resolve hardening.

SHIXIANG

"We must press on, Aiyue. We've come too far to turn back now. Every risk we take is for the hope of a better future."

Aiyue leans in, her forehead resting against Shixiang's.

AIYUE

"And for that future, I'll stand by your side, no matter the cost."

They sit in silence for a moment, drawing strength from each other's presence. The library, with its ancient texts and hidden corners, feels like a world apart from the dangers outside, but they both know it's only a temporary refuge.
