INT. WANG'S FAMILY ESTATE

- DINING HALL -

EVENING

The dining hall is a grand, imposing space, reflecting the wealth and status of the family. The walls are adorned with exquisite tapestries depicting scenes of battles and ancient myths.

A large, polished wooden table dominates the center of the room, surrounded by intricately carved chairs. The table is set with fine porcelain dishes and silver utensils, all laid out with meticulous precision.

SHIXIANG, dressed in a simple but well-made scholar's robe, sits near one end of the table. His posture is straight, his expression composed, though there is a tension in his eyes.

Opposite him, at the head of the table, sits his father, THE MINISTER of revenue WANG, a man of stern demeanor and commanding presence. He is dressed in formal robes, a symbol of his high rank in the imperial court.

ANGLE ON: THE MINISTER WANG

The Minister Wang's face is etched with lines of age and authority. His eyes, sharp and unforgiving, are fixed on his son with a mixture of disappointment and frustration. His hand rests on the table, fingers tapping rhythmically, a subtle sign of his impatience.

CLOSE-UP: SHIXIANG

Shixiang meets his father's gaze steadily, though the tension between them is palpable. He knows what is coming, but he remains calm, his resolve unshaken.
