The driver, The Girlfriend and Me

Found Out

I woke up with my face covered in tearstains. Jolyon was awake, his lips pressed against my head.

"Are you okay my love?" He asked

I had a lump in my throat. I realised the severity of what happened last night. I knew how horrible the press could be once they had hold of a juicy story.

"I don't know anymore" I replied.

"Don't say that. Are you able to sit in the back of my garage today? You can sit with me and Carmen"

"Vijay wouldn't let me get away with not doing my work"

"Are you sure?"

"Elisha would have to do double, that's not fair on her"

"Very true, shall I let you get ready and escort you to the pitlane?"

"If you wouldn't mind" I smiled.

I got up and went for a shower. When I had finished, Jolyon had laid out breakfast for me. Some fruit and pancakes, healthy of course.

"Is this alright for you?"

"It's perfect Jolyon! Now come on! Eat!"

I sat down and ate as much as I could.

"When did you last have breakfast?"

"A few days ago"

"Ah right, good that I made a lot then!"

"It sure is!"

As soon as I had finished, we had to go down to the pitlane. Everyone was giving me weird looks as I kissed Jolyon goodbye outside the garage. Nobody said anything as I entered the garage. I was fully ignored throughout the whole FP3 session.

"Why is everyone staring at me?" I said to Elisha.

"I have no idea"

"I hate it. I've been ignored for the whole session and I don't want to be ignored. This is my job, not a place for people to mock me"

"Is Nico ignoring you?"

"Yeah, hasn't spoken to me all day"

"Okay, that's rather weird"

"Yeah, anyway he has to speak to me, I'm going to some press things with him in the press square. I'll see you in qualifying"

"Alright! See you later"

I walked slowly oveer to where Nico was, waiting for me. He said nothing as we walked to the media square. I nudged him towards Lee McKenzie.

"Nico, let's start by saying, I'm very sorry for the loss of your child" She looked over at me but didn't say anything "But how did the car feel today?"

"Yeah, I mean we are still pretty much running with last years car so good results will be hard to come by but, until we get a new nose sorted and the aero package sorted our results will be lower down than what we would like"

"Do you know when you will be getting the new aero package?"

"We think around Silverstone, Austria time which is a long time away, so until then we will have to work extra hard"

"Okay, thank you"

"Tanja next" I said. He grunted and walked over to her.

The whole interview was much longer than the usual allocated two minutes. I kept signalling to Tanja to get her to stop but she just ignored me.

By the time she had finished we had to go back for qualifying.

I sat down and wrote up the website blog and a few news bits on the team and the drivers. When I finished I sat and talked with Elisha for a while. Once again, I was ignored during the session.
