"What?!"

"The...baby! She's...coming!" I yelled through a contraction.

"Medic! We need a medic here now!" Jolyon yelled.

People were looking over as I screamed in agony.

Everyone always says that giving birth is the most painful thing a woman can do. I didn't believe it at first. I did then. It felt as if I was being ripped in half. The contractions were the worst part of it.

"Sophie? Okay Sophie just before we can take you to hospital I need to check how far you're dilated"

Thankfully it wasn't to ten centimetres, so they could get me to the hospital.

Once I was placed in the bed they asked If I wanted any mess of any sort. I was offered gas and air, an epidural and things like that. I turned them all down.

"Sophie, this is going to be stupidly painful. Are you sure you don't want anything" Nico asked, looking flustered. He was bright red and sweating.

"We...we said..completely...natural" I screamed as a contraction hit me hard. He slipped his hand into mine and rubbed it with his thumb.

"It'll be okay Sophie. Just think, but the end of this, we'll be parents"

I tried to smile at that fact but I couldn't. Contractions were getting more often and more painful.

"Remember what they taught you at the classes Sophie. Deep breaths to ease the pain"

"How can breathing ease the pain?!"

"Right, I know you're frustrated and I know you're in a lot of pain, but you've got to stay calm. If you're stressed then after each contraction the baby won't recover and-"

"I bloody know!" I screamed once again. With every contraction I sneezed Nicos hand as if I wouldn't let go.

After an hour of endless contractions I was finally told that I could push.

"Right Sophie, this is the most painful part so tell me if you want any meds. When I say so, I need you to push for ten seconds. Don't stop. It'll hurt-"

"Can we get on with it?!"

"Right...push. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10"

I wasn't expecting the pain that I felt.

"Keep talking to her Nico" the midwife said "there should be a head soon"

"Okay. Come on Sophie. This'll be over soon. We'll have a healthy little baby girl"

"Right, this time when I say push you need to bring your legs towards your body"

"I can feel something!"

"That'll be the head! Let's get it out then. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10"

"Is...it...there yet?!"

"Almost. One more big push and then the hardest part is over"

"I just want this pain to stop!"

"You can have meds if you want"

"No!"

Nico was looking more flustered by the moment. I don't think that this is what he was expecting.

"Come on Soph. Grip onto my hand. You're about to get past the hardest bit"

I grabbed his hand as the midwife started to count again.

"1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10"

"And we have a head!"

I smiled through the pain.

"I bloody hate you nico" I laughed.

"We've just got to get the body out and then we can help to pull the rest of it out"

"Will it take long?!"

"If the mother wants to cooperate then yes"

I glared at her.

"One more big push! Come on Sophie! One more push and we'll be parents!" Nico said as I gripped his hand hard. My scream was the loudest that I had done all day. I gasped as I felt something leave my body. The baby.

"She's out!" Nico exclaimed as I heard the cry. I smiled as I tried to get my breath back.

In a few moments, a tiny bundle was placed in my arms. Eva Mae. She felt around for a moment and the snuggled into my breasts and fell asleep.

"She's gorgeous" I whispered.

"I know she is. Well done sophie" he said, kissing my forehead.

"There are some visitors outside. Shall I send some in?"

"Who is there?" Nico asked.

"Sergio Perez, vijay Maliya, Jolyon Palmer and Laura Zinnel"

"Send in vijay and Sergio"

They walked in with smiles on their faces.

"Congratulations you two" they said. Nico smiled his gorgeous smile and moved my hair out of my face.

Jolyon didn't want to come in. The paperwork for the baby to say who was the legal mother and father was brought in as Laura came. Nico signed his name. I put my small bundle into the cot and walking to the table.

I hesitated to write as I picked up the pen. I out it to the paper as Laura nodded at me. I scribbled something onto it and gave it back to the midwife.

"Parents are Nico Hulkenberg and...Sophie Barker"

Laura looked horrified.

"I'll send it off! She's such a cute baby"

Laura stormed out without saying another word.

"Can I hold her?" Nico asked as I picked her up again.

"Of course you can! She's your baby too"

I gently put her in his arms. She looked at him and went to sleep. He smiled the biggest I had ever seen.

"Hello Eva. I'm your daddy"

I could see the tears in his eyes. He and I couldn't stop smiling.

"After nine months of waiting. I did it. I had our baby"

"I'm so proud of you!"

I yawned.

"Are you tired?"

"Very. I ache in places that I shouldn't"

"I'll stay by your side Soph. I'll hold Eva for a little while longer. You sleep"

He kissed my forehead and I kissed Eva as I fell asleep knowing that I was now a mum.
