Shawn was silent for a long time. "What are you talking about?" He asked, sounding appalled.
"Yeah. You hooked up with my best friend, Katie. She didn't even know it was you." I said accusingly. Tears had sprung into my eyes and almost fell. They were dangling from a limb, struggling to hold on. Like me."I would've known if it was her." He scoffed to me. That made me even madder.
"She hinted it pretty damn clearly! She said that she was at your concert in Virginia and you guys went to an after party. You were both drunk off you ass. She said she remembered a tall, brown headed guy who was walking around with a guitar, Shawn!" I flopped my arms to my sides. "No one else does that but you." My voice was quiet and whimpering now."Alli, I.." He stuttered out some syllables. But I wasn't listening.
I shook my head and bit my lip to keep the sobs in. "Did you even care about me ever? Did you even mean those songs you wrote? Or the party you planned for me? What about that picnic, or all those good times?" I said to him.
"Alli, please don't throw that all away just because of one stupid mistake." And when he said that, I immediately thought of the song I was writing. Shawn was one stupid mistake."You're right." I whispered.
"I am?" Shawn questioned.
"Yeah. That was a stupid mistake. And it'll never happen again." A cruel look came to my face. "Because it wouldn't be called cheating. From now on, you're single Shawn. I'm breaking up with you, but you made it pretty dam clear with that 'one stupid mistake' of yours." I sneered and sniffled."Allison, are you serious? It was one time!" He started to protest.
"And the last time Shawn! You're such a jerk. Goodbye." I said, my tone getting softer at the end.
"Wait." Shawn stopped me from hanging up."What?" I asked him into the phone in an annoyed voice.
"Just please come to my last concert in LA. Please." He requested.
I sighed. Why am I so weak? "Don't count on it." I said before hanging up on the last call with Shawn Mendes. When the realization of what I'd just done hit me like a wave, I dropped my phone on the floor next to the toilet. I wrapped my arms around my knees and buried my head into the cave created by my arms and legs. I stayed there, rocking back and forth, broken and crying.
I must've fallen into my head because the next thing I knew, Matt had opened the door to the bathroom. I lifted my head and looked at him. He saw my tear-stained face and he immediately rushed over to wrap me into a hug. That made me cry harder. "I told him, Matt." I said between sobs.
"Told him what?" He asked, rubbing my back.
"I broke up with him and-" the rest was just mindless blubbering and rambling. I didn't know what I was saying.
"Shh, you're gonna be okay." He tried to reassure me."But what if I'm not?" I cried out. I looked him in the eyes. "Why does it hurt so much?" I asked him. He looked at me the way Stiles looks at Lydia. Caring and love filled his eyes. But also sadness.
"It hurts me to see you like this, Al. So please, you don't have to be done being sad. But just try not to be so heartbroken. It's only one boy. There are plenty more out there." He said to me. I wiped my face and nodded, weakly smiling.
"We are gonna go out and have fun without him. You, me and all the guys." He promised me and flashed a smile. He put out his hand and I took it. We stood up and walked out of the bathroom. We got dressed and walked out of our room to meet the guys in the lobby.I don't know what they planned for me, but I could tell that they wanted to have some fun. They were all there waiting for Matt and I.
"Hey guys!" Carter said to us.
I folded my arms and looked at the faces of all the guys. "So, where are we going?" They showed no prevail. I sighed. "Let's go." We all piled into a limo and the boys were hooting. I rolled my eyes.
"Lighten up a bit, Alli. Have some fun." Hayes said to me, squeezing my arm. I looked at him and bit my lip.
"If I tell you a something, can you keep a secret?" I asked, eyeing the rest of the guys, who were busy with their own conversations. He nodded eagerly. I leaned in close to his ear so nobody would hear me. "Shawn cheated on me with my best friend." I whispered. I leaned back and saw Hayes' surprised face. Wide eyes and slightly open mouth, he wasn't happy.
"He what?!" He exclaimed in a hushed tone. I just nodded. "Oh my god, I'm going to kill that little son of a-" I cut him off before things got worse.
"No, Hayes, just stop. I'm fine, I broke up with him." I slumped down. "Besides, I don't think he wants anything to do with us right now." I looked up at Hayes and shrugged a little bit. "You know, with his tour." I said. A little fire kindled in Hayes' eyes, that anger that makes someone scary."Why would he do that to you?" He said, relaxing a little bit.
"I don't know, but please Hayes. Don't tell the others. Only you and Matt know and I don't want them to beat up Shawn." I told him.
Hayes nodded and took out his phone.A few minutes later, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my pocket and opened Twitter. A notification that Hayes Grier had tweeted something. An indirect tweet, but pretty clear on Shawn's end.
"I extremely don't like it when people do bad things like cheating to people who deserve it the least. It makes me not want to be that person's friend anymore."
