"Surprise!" I heard the shouts and cheers and whoops of all my closest friends and family. I had no words. I was too shocked. I laughed and looked over to Tori.
"You did this?" I asked her over the crowd. She shrugged and shook her head.
"Not all me. I just kept you out for the day." She said. Then she pointed out the boys that I had spent a good amount of time with.
I walked over to them and smiled wide. I didn't even try to hide it. "Did you guys really do all this?" I asked.Nash laughed. "Shawn did most of it." He said, shooting Shawn a suggestive glance.
"Yeah, he nearly had a mental breakdown because he needed it to be perfect." Johnson said. Shawn elbowed Jack in the ribs and I caught sight of his pink cheeks. Before I could thank Shawn, I was pulled away by someone. "Katie!" I squealed.
"You were in town and didn't even come see me?" She shouted. We embraced for a long time. "So what's new? I mean, other than-" I knew she was talking about my mom's death.
"Just touring with my favorite guys." I shrugged. She winked and wriggled he eyebrows."So which one have you hooked up with yet?" She asked. I screamed and clamped a hand over her mouth.
"None of them! God Kate. I'm only 16!" I shrieked. I was overjoyed to see all these people. "I'm going to go see some more people and say thanks." I said to her before slipping away.I greeted my aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas. I even saw my cousins. Madeline wrapped me into a hug and her brother stood by awkwardly, as usual. It's nice how some things never change.
After catching up with a lot of people, I wandered about, casually accepting Happy Birthdays and eating food. My sister knows me too well, she even got barbecue chips. I sat on a leather couch alone next to a huge cake. This was going all out for a sweet 16. And I didn't even know about it.
The lights dimmed and some soft blue lights came up. A soft hush came over the crowd. A spotlight shines on someone on the loft. I turned around.
Shawn was standing up in the loft with a guitar and a microphone. He just smiled at me and began talking. "Hello everybody." He said. A collective hi's and hello's were said. "So, I wrote this one a little while back when I got to know this girl. And I was so infatuated with her. So I wrote a song about her." He said, adjusting the strings on his guitar. He stepped back and cleared his throat.
I could see his take a shake deep breath and close his eyes. Then, sound.
"Oh, there she goes again. Every morning it's the same. You walk on by my house. I want to call out your name. I want to tell you how beautiful you are from where I'm standing.
You got me thinking what we could be. Cause I keep craving, craving you Don't you know it but it's true. Can't get my mouth to say the words they wanna say to you.
This is typical of love. Can't wait anymore, I won't wait. I need tell how I feel when I see us together forever. "
His sweet voice caught my attention. At this point, my eyes were the size of dinner plates. This was it. This was the song that I had heard, that I had been obsessed over finding. He's here, now.
My mouth moved along with his in formation of the words."In my dreams, you're with me. We'll be everything I want us to be. And from then, who knows? Maybe this will be the night that kiss for the first time, or is that just me and my imagination.
We walk, we laugh, we spend our time walking by the ocean side
Our hands are gently intertwined
A feeling I just can't describe
All this time we spent alone, thinking we could not belong to something so damn beautiful
So damn beautifulI keep craving, craving, you don't know it, but it's true
Can't get my mouth to say the words they want to say to you
This is typical of love
Can't wait anymore, I won't wait I need to tell you how I feel when I see us together foreverIn my dreams, you're with me
We'll be everything I want us to be
And from there, who knows, maybe this will be the night that we kiss for the first time
Or is that just me and my imaginationImagination
Imagination
(Whoa, whoa, whoa...)In my dreams, you're with me
We'll be everything I want us to be
And from there, who knows, maybe this will be the night that we kiss for the first time
Or is that just me and my imaginationI keep craving, craving, you don't know it, but it's true
Can't get my mouth to say the words they want to say to you"The song ended and I was speechless. My ears rung and I clapped. I made my way through the crowd to him. He was coming down from the loft and I walked up to him.
Before any of us could speak, our lips crashed together. Our mouths moves in sync and fit together perfectly. I'm not going to be cliche and say there were sparks. No, it wasn't sparks. It was like the Fourth of July on a very patriotic military base. So many fireworks. I tangled my hands in his hair. He kept his hands on my waist.
I would've stayed in his arms forever if I hadn't heard the hooting and clapping behind me. I forgot that there were my family and friends right there. We both blushed profusely and I laughed. He wrapped a hand around my shoulders.
He held up his guitar in a victorious stance. "It worked!" He shouted. I've never seen him so happy.
We were okay. We were us and I was happy.
A/N: I know what you're thinking. "Newtie, finally he got the girl!" Yeah I know they kissed. Okay till next time. Byeee😍😘😙💋👄
